I worked as a front end coordinator at Eccotique not zennkai* same horrible management though. If it was possible to give management zero stars I would have done that. First and foremost, you won’t get properly trained - my manager had a check list of all the things she would teach me / show me and she barely signed off on even half of the list before throwing me on the front. Really got zero support from her and when I had questions I would resort to having to ask other team members as she wasn’t present. She spent most of her time hanging out at Zennkai. She wasn’t very friendly - or when she was you could tell she was being fake. She was never upfront and often complained about other team members behind their back instead of speaking with them directly. As for the atmosphere, it truly was an awful place to work, full of women who were obviously mean girls in high school. Not welcoming to new team members. It’s an extremely clicky place to work. The esthetician’s have been there for years and could care less about being welcoming to new staff. If you aren’t a good fit you will be let go with absolutely no warning or reason. They will say it “isn’t working out” and escort you out half way through your shift (only after everyones breaks have been covered.) and as for working conditions, be prepared to work alone for most of your 8 hour shifts. You’re spending most of your time booking appts on the computer / over the phone with no chair, or at the very least floor mat. You’re expected to stand your entire shift and there really isn’t much traffic in the actual store itself. If you you need use the washroom or get some water you have to interrupt the gossip sessions at Zennkai so someone can watch the store while you step out. The megahair company claims to be a “family” and makes working with them sound really awesome. But it’s not. Avoid this horrible company.

A typical day at Zennkai Salon starts out slow in the morning, and depending on the day of the week, picks up speed throughout the day. Large quantities of professional hair products and tools are sold in the salon. Nail and hair services are also available to clients, along with free consultations. Working at Zennkai has helped me gain new skills to better advance my customer service skills. Working as a front end coordinator requires me to be able to professionally and compassionately handle all aspects of customer feedback and concerns. Management has rough patches, but overall it is a tolerable work environment. The team of co-workers is similar to a close knit extended family. We support one another and know that Zennkai is a safe and creative environment where we can all be our authentic selves. At times, being a front end coordinator means you have to stand strong through all of the emotions and situations that pop up throughout the day. My main goal as a front end coordinator is to provide the best customer service to every guest. The most enjoyable part of my job is being able to educate guests passionately and truthfully about a product / tool / experience.

Fast paced environment that is often unforgiving; Management has unreasonable expectations for meeting sales targets and goals.  Management is often fake, and will either outright lie or omit truths in order to preserve their "appearance" as an open and welcoming salon to work at.  They are, and they arent.  If you have any personal struggles that will take you off your A-game, they will punish you for it. You must excel constantly, and always, with absolutely no room for error.

When they no longer have a need for you, they will fire you; but will also lie and say its a "shortage of work" but your ROE will not have that as the reason for your termination.

Avoid working for Zennkai, Eccotique, and any other MegaHair family salon. You will not be seen for what you're worth, only what youre willing to put up with.

Management dont know how to properly treat staff. Bullying constantly happens with no remorse. (to new employees especially) Very cliquey. and hard to feel welcome. 
Management does little to no work and leaves everything on other employees. Constantly threatening to let go employees for "not being a good fit." 
Employees are practically demanded to cover managers shifts and are made to feel extremely guilty if we say no.  
Stylists are expected to cover front end breaks. 
If you want to work by yourself for your whole shift, standing, not allowed to use the washroom. This is the place for you.

Zennkai is a great place to work - this family run business has become a power-house in the industry in BC. It has managed to do this while maintaining true culture and values.

I go to work and process reports, touch base with employees, recruit, interview, process payroll and provide customer service. I learned a lot about payroll and ways to build business.

My co-workers are a great group - because I have great interpersonal skills I was able to gain their trust and respect and was able to get them on board with initiatives I created.

I used to love working here till I realized Management doesn’t care. You won’t move up in the company it will be very hard. You won’t be paid well/ paid what you’re worth. You will always need to fight for a 50cent raise. The manager was stealing money, and once management found out they pretended it didn’t happen and tried firing the employees who stood up to them. Not good morals. Go somewhere more positive. Somewhere where there is no gossiping and lying going on.

I’ve been working in Zennaki for a few months now and I love it more each day. Such a rewarding company to work for. They really like to see people progressing and moving upwards so if you put in the work you will see the results! Fun and creative work environment. Management is always very approachable and understanding. All over great place to work.

I have really enjoyed working with the people I have in the different locations I've been a part of.

Through this company I have continuously been gaining confidence in my people skills and sales skills. I have learnt to deal with guest challenges professionally, assist in retail guests while having to micromanage stylists.

Working at Zennkai & Eccotique was amazing. Honestly don't know what some of these reviews are talking about. Every single individual was amazing to work with and most of the stylist and staff have been there 5+ years and have become some of my closest friends! It's an amazing place to work <3 

About what one would expect from a full retail position. The location I worked at did not have a stylist and did not make efforts to hire one. Thus the position was not as it was described (reception duties were completely missing).
