I worked as a machine operator for 5yrs and learned lots about how to troubleshoot issues, make repairs, quality inspection and even how to do a setups for work orders. Most of the days went by quickly due to how fast paced it can be. Overhead crane/forklift license training. Friendly and loud work environment. Pay is decent along with a pension/benefits and even hearing tests onsite. Downside of the job is rotating shifts and management. Overall I'd recommend Fischer Canada if your looking into manufacturing jobs.

Management doesn’t care about anyone.
You’re basically expected to work 7 days a week. 
Training is almost non-existent.
Atmosphere is like high school and you literally can’t trust anyone.
Management gossips about employees to other employees. 
The company makes money hand over fist but doesn’t care to reward employees. They also try to take advantage of any situation where they might get away with not giving proper vacation/pay etc.
Management are bullies!


Horrible place to work. they take full advantage of employees. Maintenance manager is horrible at his job. The maintenance manager is also very uneducated. This company only promotes the lazy people. The less work you do the higher you will go. Very bad moral here. The hardest part of the job is dealing with the horrible/uneducated management that think they know everything. There are different rules for different people here.

fischer Canada has been in business for a very long time.  Some of the employees have retired at the 30 years of service mark.  Every company has it's pro's and con's, fischer is no different.  Show up to work, have a good attitude, willingness to learn and you are set.  Group benefits for families are paid for by the company, RRSP matching, company events are all part of the package.  It's nice to feel like you're part of the team.

Job security was an issue for me as the company was in between contracts and had to lay people off including myself because of a lack of work. a good place to work for general machine operating that is not in a high stress environment as long as you do you job and pay attention. very repetitive yet unlike other similar jobs there is more rotation from one type of machine to another.

There will be days when you're fighting the machine for 8 hours and can't wait to get out of there. When things are running smooth, it can actually be really great money for the amount of work needed. Don't expect a thanks from management, no matter how productive you are, and they are largely incompetent and unable to assist at all. Lot of jerks when I was working there, but it was still a decent gig for a few years.

Nobody cares. Turn over is insane, people come and go constantly. Training is virtually non existent which can create serious problems. Benefits are awful. Only 2 PTO days, and remainder of “PTO” such as 3 sick days, fam emergency, etc are unpaid. Company is doing nothing. Machines are always broken, you will almost always be running a broken machine. Ridiculous probation period. 

Fischer was a good employer, decent wage but low RRSP employer contribution percentage.  People were friendly, and supervisors provided decent training.  Good place to work!

Usually check in and see what needs attention. check my PM programs and access what is needed.Make any repairs required to machinery.I learned about lasers and printers and some mgmt situations.Most of my co-workers were easy to work with.Hardest part was the shifts.Most enjoyable was my ability to learn and continuously learn.

This place can be a good place to work, but the bosses just don't care,If you work hard and show up every day, that doesn't matter, If you slack off and don't do your job that's ok,They like to threaten to fire good workers or belittle them, but slackers get rewarded.The rate of pay is average for the job.
