Griffin Security is one of those companies that pretend they are pioneers and leaders in the industry. The reality is they are a bunch of rejects from other companies given tactical gear and sent out to police the homeless populations of Chilliwack. 

When I was hired, the manager that hired me gave me a quick tour of the office, signed paperwork and sent me out by myself with no formal training. 

they gave me 1 shirt that smelled of B/O and Cigarette smoke, and another manager gave me a old jacket that was too big and had the lettering fading off it, which also smelled like B/O and Cigarette smoke.

There were too many managers all given the same duties, but having differing opinions on how the job should be done. I was doing my position and told by 3 different managers to do 3 different things that all conflicted. 

Those same managers also seemed to have differing views on what areas of the office were restricted or not.

The pay was low for my position, and the work was very redundant. I met many guards who were full of themselves and believed they were afforded some higher authority. 

In summary, I would not recommend working for this company for any reason. stay away from them.

I applied and was given a job with Griffin security almost without any hesitation. They don’t count your security experience as an asset. I received work for mobile patrol during the day. My first day they threw a old worn out jacket that didn’t fit at me and said that’s all they have. The equipment they have is very poor quality, especially their radios. 
I have never felt more unwelcome in a company! They will talk down to you and make you feel like your constantly making mistakes. They micromanage a lot usually while they are smoking which is constantly. One larger lady with red hair mocks people for the way they talk. Also they will talk about you behind your back calling you an idiot. It’s a security job but it’s hard to continue working for them when management treats you worse than the homeless. DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!!!

The fact they haven't gone under and lost more business is because the City props them up. (But that is visibly slipping beneath them) Management only cares about you if you are a Rat for them and are on-call 24/7. Guards instigate fights and the RCMP nolonger respects the company or give its calls any importance. Owners are just trying to squeeze money out of the company.

They would put a high demand on there employees to work of 90 hours a week. I never got paid any overtime in the three years there and the management did not care about there employees any more then they had to to keep people working as much as possible. They also put I high demand on there employees to get as much as possible, they constantly bark on the radio you need yo keep stopping to deal with people regardless of how many aggressive people you have been dealing with. 

They are the worst company in the Fraser-vally. Only work here if you are desperate enough for a job. The management are the only ones who get any sort of benefits, medical benefits they will take over 30% of your wage for. They don’t tell you this until you miss out if 100$-250$ of your check. Depending on the season.

I had a chance to work for them
I loved my shifts but personally felt there is no initiation to improve or promote workers
Best thing is having a fun shift and using a radio
Worst thing is I had to clean everything myself for my work and nobody else did it.
Staff lack discipline which seemed to be a growing concern.

Really good place to start in this field. You can learn a lot, depends on who you’re working with. You work in an environment where there are lot of grey areas of what you can do , what you can’t and what you’re supposed to do. Overall it helps a lot in decision making. 

long hours, on your feet 8-12 hours a day, inadequate clothing for winter whether. Good support when needed by other guards. Lack of on the job training. Short notice of changes to shift. Meeting of the public on a whole.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Shifts fly by. Always something to do.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Keeping everyone scheduled when staff call in sick.

Lots of hours if you’re looking for extra work, so much room to grow in the company. Fun staff, and good environment. As with most companies, keep your focus on work and you’ll go far in this company
