While working at the Winnipeg Sun I learned many different aspects of many jobs. Everything from designing advertisements, cold calling for new clientele, supervisory duties, marketing and promotional duties. It was a good place to learn and grow. The company was willing to give you the opportunity advance yourself and grow your clientele at every opportunity.
The atmosphere was always fast paced and the co-workers were always willing to lend a hand if needed. The hardest part of the job was keeping up with clients demands. It can be challenging (in a good way) when 2 or more clients want to run an ad on the same page on the same day. 
The management had its ups and downs as it does in most places but for the most part the management that was there were always willing to help you make more money and help you advance.

I started at the Sun as a CSR, then moved to be the Dispatcher. Management was always there with encouragement and dealt with all manners fairly and diplomatically. I learned most of my computer skills here. Excel, word, spreadsheets.. The most difficult part of the job was leaving when they closed the department. It was a healthy fun fair atmosphere, and they genuinely cared about the staff.

Very simple job, pick up papers and take the where they need to go. Management is kind of hard to deal with but you only interact with them about every two weeks. Very independent work place (4-6 hours in a car by yourself). Winters are hard especially since they expect deliveries in all but the most extreme conditions. Best job there is in the summer.

Delivering news papers when your only 9 or 10 years old was pretty difficult for me because my brother was still young back then too so he didn't know how to drive yet and my mother had no drivers licenses yet either so being that the problem me and my brother would walk or bike around delivering papers every morning.

Very repetitive and physical work, always need to keep up to speed and meet deadlines. Different tasks to be done to complete a job. Co-workers and management are enjoyable to work with as well very helpful when needed.

worked by my self for most part.Ansering alarmed door for paper drivers would be a nusince when in the middle of repairs. Some days i would need to stay to finish what i started with no overtime.

If you want to look for a place for your first job I highly recommend working at Mcdonalds. good people to be working with always positive when you walk in the doors.

early morning delivery of the newspaper to 90-100 customers, some of whom wished for earlier drop off times which we met all deadlines.
Over all it was a great job be I had no medical.

Can’t complain - as a first part time job in high school I made money and learned a lot about dealing with the general public! (The good AND the bad!). As a bonus I met my best friend while employed there!
