CIMA+ is seeking a Land Development Engineer to join our growing team of professionals in our infrastructure team based in Calgary. The successful candidate would be someone who is a self-starter willing to help build a team and who is enthusiastic about an opportunity to bring their potentially under-utilized talents to the forefront while helping to grow a business. He/she would represents CIMA+ in all interactions with clients and other project team members, therefore requiring strong interpersonal skills and business acumen.

This exciting opportunity will provide you with the possibility to work with various private and public sector clients. The candidate will have design experience for municipal engineering projects including roads, parking lots, sewers, watermains, drainage.

 

 

 Responsibilities

  • Provide land development and site development engineering design, including grading, site servicing, stormwater management, surface improvements, utility coordination and related work, with the support of our design technologist team and senior review engineers
  • Provide construction administration services, such as quantity take-off's, cost estimates, tendering and development of technical specifications
  • Participate in the design and provide direction to the design team throughout the design process
  • Carry out varied civil engineering design work, from the conceptual level through to detailed construction drawings
  • Prepare and review design calculations in accordance with current standards
  • Maintain design files with necessary calculations and documentation
  • Prepare design reports, letters and technical memorandums
  • Provide input to Project Managers in the preparation of fee proposals
  • Sign and seal drawings, letters, and reports
  • Undertake quality control procedures and monitor design standards on completed work
  • Provide technical support to Project Managers and Inspection staff through the project delivery life cycle
  • Coordinate design team activities, contract document preparation and tendering
  • Maintain project planning documentation including schedules, budgets, cost control processes and work procedures
  • Liaise with clients, government and regulatory authorities to address their needs/comments, and guide a project through approvals processes
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • University degree in Civil Engineering
  • Fifteen years' experience in linear infrastructure projects delivery in Alberta, preferably for municipalities within the Calgary region.
  • Experience in master servicing plans, residential subdivisions, stormwater management plans (SWM), servicing plans and site grading
  • Advanced understanding of municipal and land development design
  • Demonstrated experience working on projects with municipalities in the Calgary region, including direct interaction with public sector clients.
  • You have experience with land development within The City of Calgary, including their design guidelines and approval processes (an asset)
  • You have familiarity with City of Calgary ESC requirements and/or are CPESC certified (an asset)
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer
  • Comfortable carrying out design work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated success and expertise in design on municipal engineering projects including parking lot, roads, drainage, watermains and sewers
  • Proficient in the preparation of conceptual and detailed design drawings and reports, contract document preparation and tendering
  • Solid technical writing skills demonstrated through experience in writing reports and proposals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works well under pressure in a fast paced deadline-driven environment
  • Works well with minimal supervision
  • Highly meticulous nature, strong attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple files simultaneously
  • Must have excellent time management skills
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary project team environment
  • Valid Alberta Driver's License
