The Clinical Nurse Educator, under the direction of the Director of Clinical Management, is accountable for the delivery and development of continuing education and training programs for Nursing Supervisors, Field employees, and Administrative employees as appropriate. Supports the delivery of quality care and service to clients and ensures compliance with internal and external professional practice standards. S/he assumes overall responsibility for the delivery of quality care and services in the absence of the Director of Clinical Management.


. Act as a resource and provides support to the Nursing Supervisor and Field Staff, as requested, to ensure compliance with all relevant federal and provincial legislated standards or professional practice as well as internal polices

. Demonstrate knowledge of Standard of Practice guidelines of Provincial regulating body

. Liaise with Provincial regulating body as required.

. Conduct research on best practice and clinical issues

. Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical programs; participate in the review and/or development of clinical nursing policies and procedures as appropriate

. Conducts bi-weekly clinical orientation education for new hire employees or as needed

. Provides and monitors Field employee education and competency reviews requirements. Conduct site visits to support Field Staff learning, provide skill training, and re-assess competency as identified by Health Authority guidelines Proactively maintains sufficient numbers of qualified field staff to exceed funded indicator reporting requirements

. Participate in health authority education meetings or committees as required

. Participate in ongoing internal and/or external continuing education activities

. Adhere to Bayshore Policies and Procedures

. Participate in quality activities and continuous improvement initiatives in keeping with the company's Quality Management System

. Participates in proactive Health & Safety activities, identify trends, implements education & training to support Nursing supervisors and Field staff to address health & safety risks or concerns

. Participates and supports field staff modified work programs

. Maintains confidentiality of client and corporate information and discusses same only with appropriate Bayshore personnel

. Assume the responsibilities for clinical operations in the absence of the Director of Clinical Management

. Participates in the management on-call rotation

. Complete other tasks as requested


Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, preferably with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN). Current registration with the College of Nurses of British Columbia is required. Attained or working toward CAN Hospice Palliative Care Certification or has equivalent course/experience and expertise in Hospice Palliative Care.


At least three years of recent experience with dementia and palliative care nursing, preferably in a community setting. Strong track record in leading the development and evaluation of training programs; experience and ability to convey information to regulated and unregulated health care professionals.

Other Skills and Abilities

Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to meet deadlines; demonstrated track record of high productivity; confidence and sound judgment in dealing with a variety of health care providers, including nurses, managers, Community Health Workers, and staff from other disciplines. Exceptional clinical skills, assume leadership responsibilities, and communicate effectively, solid knowledge of the principles, practices and methods of community home support and service delivery to clients as well as the principles of program development, implementation and evaluation. Internal candidates must have a demonstrated track record of being able to work independently, consistently shown above average initiative, exceptional communication skills, demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and related software such as Windows, valid driver's license, and a commitment to continual learning.
