A post-secondary degree or diploma in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field, OR current enrollment in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field. (A certificate of completion or proof of enrollment will be required)
Assist with the volunteer program as directed; assist the LEC to coordinate a program of volunteer activities which enhances services to residents.
Assist residents to coordinate the activities of the Resident Council and Family Council and provide support and assistance as requested by council.
Participate in an effective restorative care program which consistently applies the standards and principles of the OMNI Supportive Measures program.
Participate in and assist with the physical therapy program in the home as required.
Provide input into service and product evaluations to ensure that they meet the required standards of safety and quality and effectively meet the needs of the residents.
Work collaboratively with the LEC to ensure a calendar of recreational and social activities that includes indoor and outdoor activities scheduled during daytime, evening and weekend hours is developed and made available to the residents and their families.
Provide assistance and support to facilitate resident’s participation in activities that may be of interest to them if they are not able to do so independently.
Utilize continuous quality improvement tools in order to ensure effective evaluation and continuous improvement of all aspects of care and services.
Utilize Risk Management tools as directed to effectively identify and support the management of actual and potential risks.
Participate in an effective team/committee structure in the life enrichment department. Attend team meetings in accordance with established terms of reference.
Cooperate in the development of supportive relationships with representatives of the Ministry of Health, community partners, LHINs, Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation, CCAC and other external agencies and organizations.
