12-Volt Installation Technician

Performance Car Stereo has been one of BC's premier automotive electronics retailers and installation facilities for over 35 years. We specialize in premium car audio, remote starters, vehicle security, OEM integration, marine audio, radar & laser defense systems, and custom installations.
We are looking for an experienced 12-Volt Installation Technician who takes pride in craftsmanship and enjoys solving technical challenges. We work on everything from daily drivers to luxury European vehicles, Teslas, Sprinter vans, RVs, boats, and custom projects.
This is not a flat-rate, rushed environment. We believe in doing the job right the first time with clean wiring, OEM-quality fit and finish, and attention to detail. If you're passionate about quality installations and want to work with a supportive, experienced team, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
As a member of our installation team, you'll be responsible for:
- Installing premium car audio systems, including head units, amplifiers, DSPs, speakers and subwoofers
- Installing remote starters, security systems, alarms and immobilizers
- Installing accessories including dash cameras, backup cameras, parking sensors, lighting, USB charging systems, and other vehicle electronics
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and integration issues
- Working on modern CAN-BUS vehicles, including domestic, import and luxury brands
- Reading wiring diagrams, installation guides and technical documentation
- Programming interfaces and vehicle integration modules
- Testing and verifying all installed equipment for proper operation
- Maintaining clean wiring, OEM-style fit and finish
- Keeping your work area clean, organized and professional
- Communicating with team members regarding technical challenges and project timelines
- Providing customers with a professional explanation of completed installations when required
What We're Looking For
- Professional experience installing 12-volt automotive electronics
- Strong understanding of automotive electrical systems
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues
- Experience reading wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Strong soldering, crimping and wiring skills
- High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Valid BC Driver's Licence with the ability to operate customer vehicles
Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Experience with any of the following is considered a strong asset:
- European and luxury vehicles
- Tesla vehicle installations
- iDatalink Maestro integration
- DSP tuning (Audison, Helix, JL Audio, etc.)
- Custom fabrication
- Fiberglass, ABS plastic or wood fabrication
- CAD design and 3D printing
- MECP Certification
- Marine electronics
- Radar detector and laser defense installations

Schedule
Our shop is open Monday through Saturday, and our team works a rotating schedule to provide full coverage throughout the week. Team members typically work five days per week, with Saturday shifts shared fairly and a weekday off provided when scheduled to work a Saturday.
Pay
Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
$50,000 to $75,000 per year.
