Preschool Program Assistant

Key Responsibilities
Assist the Preschool Program Instructor with delivery of programs.
Assist with set up; take down and cleanup of the program area.
Clean and disinfect equipment and toys.
Prepare craft materials.
Assist the instructor in interactions with parents when dropping off or picking up their children and with parent rosters.
Perform special projects as required.
Adhere to applicable responsibilities and accountabilities as outlined in the Sturgeon County Health and Safety Management System.

Required Qualifications
Child Development Assistant or equivalent training through Life Experience Equivalency Process (LEEP).

  • Previous experience in working with preschool children is an asset.
  • Clear Criminal Records Check and clear Child Welfare Intervention Checks are required.
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license.
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills, organization abilities, and the ability to work with and maintain positive relationships with families of children within the programs.
  • Microsoft Office computer experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently on own with little supervision or within a team environment
  • Must be able to follow Sturgeon County Health and Safety Policies.
  • Must have transportation for travel to rural locations: Calahoo, Cardiff, Redwater and Riviere Qui Barre.
Remuneration and Benefits
$16.57 - $19.39 per hour

Additional Information
Flexible schedule depending on programs approx. 32 weeks per year from Sept. to June.
