At Wedgwood Insurance, our core values of We Care, We Lead, We Improve, and We Deliver_ are reflected in everything we do. It’s how we’ve become the most trusted insurance broker in Newfoundland & Labrador and have been part of our foundation for over 45 years. We invest in our team by promoting personal and professional development, providing amazing benefits, and fostering a culture of respect and pride in our work. And it shows as we’ve been named one of the Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine!
We are looking for a dedicated System Specialist to join our team!
The Opportunity
This isn’t a support desk role. As Systems Specialist, you are the person who keeps the engine running. You’ll own the operation, maintenance, and optimization of our brokerage management system - primarily Applied EPIC - along with the supporting platforms our team depends on every day.
You’ll be the go-to for everything from system configuration and data integrity to user support, report building, and troubleshooting. When something goes wrong, staff know who to call. When something could work better, you’re the one who figures out how. And when someone needs a hand at their workstation, you’re the calm, capable presence who gets them back on track.
What You’ll Do
System administration & optimization
- Administer and maintain Applied EPIC and connected platforms - Policy Works, R Post, Simple Pin, and others
- Configure and customize systems to meet evolving business needs
- Monitor system availability, performance, and security
- Manage integrations between internal and external systems
- Oversee data migration projects when required
- Apply and test system updates, coordinating with staff before and after changes
Data integrity & reporting
- Maintain high data quality standards - run regular audits and resolve inconsistencies
- Build, schedule, and troubleshoot reports and dashboards in EPIC
- Generate insights from data to support leadership decision-making
- Identify opportunities for system improvements based on what the data tells you
User support & training
- Be the first call when staff hit a system issue - diagnose, resolve, and document the fix
- Develop training materials and walk staff through system features and best practices
- Manage user accounts across all platforms - setting up new users, adjusting access, and offboarding departing staff
- Provide first-level IT support for day-to-day issues: new workstation setup, printer troubleshooting, connectivity and login problems, and escalating anything beyond your scope to our external IT provider
- Work alongside an AI agent that handles routine staff requests and common troubleshooting - freeing you to focus on the complex problems that actually need your expertise
- Who We’re Looking For
- You don’t need to know every system we use on day one - but you need to be the kind of person who figures things out and doesn’t leave a problem half-solved.
- You’re calm under pressure. When EPIC goes down and five people are waiting, you’re already working on the solution.
- You’re methodical. You document what you fix so the next person doesn’t have to figure it out from scratch.
- You communicate clearly. You can explain a technical issue to someone who doesn’t understand technical language.
- You’re curious. You notice when something could work better and you actually do something about it.
- You’re a team player. You understand that your work makes everyone else’s work possible.
Your Qualifications
Required:
- Diploma or degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of experience with a Broker Management System - Applied EPIC strongly preferred
- NL P&C Level 1 licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong understanding of data management, data quality, and system security principles
- Experience with workstation setup, peripheral troubleshooting, and first-level IT support
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with Policy Works, R Post, or Simple Pin
- Experience with Connections Suite or EPIC integrations
- Industry certifications related to network, security, or systems administration
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation starting at $75,000, commensurate with experience
- Access to an AI agent that handles routine requests, so you spend your time on the work that actually needs you
- Comprehensive benefits package including RRSP match, extended health, dental, and vision care
- 3 weeks’ vacation to start
- Additional paid time off, including birthdays and at Christmas
- Wellness program and Employee & Family Assistance Program
- Paid licensing fees, professional development, and education reimbursement
- Hybrid work capability
- On-site parking
- A professional, friendly team that genuinely enjoys working together
Our Work Environment
- We value hard work and commitment and look for people who want a long-term career with the potential for upward mobility
- Our working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with flexibility when the work calls for it
- We offer hybrid work capability upon completion of training and probationary period - though our team thrives when collaborating in the office
- We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply
How to Apply
One more thing worth knowing: you’ll be supported by an AI agent that takes care of routine staff requests - so your time and expertise go where they matter most.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply by July 9, 2026, and include your resume along with a brief note about why this role interests you and why Wedgwood is the right fit.
