Role Overview
The Senior Dispatcher is responsible for overseeing daily transportation operations, ensuring efficient route planning, driver coordination, and on-time delivery. This role is critical to optimizing fleet utilization, maintaining compliance, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction across all freight movements.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Coordination
· Plan and dispatch drivers and equipment efficiently to meet customer delivery requirements
· Monitor routes and adjust schedules in real-time to address delays or disruptions
· Ensure optimal fleet utilization and minimize empty miles
· Coordinate with drivers to provide clear instructions and updates
Driver Management
· Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers during shifts
· Provide guidance, support, and issue resolution
· Ensure adherence to safety standards and company policies
· Assist in onboarding and training of new drivers
Customer & Service Management
· Communicate with clients regarding delivery schedules and service updates
· Resolve service issues promptly to maintain client satisfaction
· Ensure service commitments are met consistently
Compliance & Documentation
· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards
· Maintain accurate records of dispatch logs, driver hours, and trip documentation
· Support audits and reporting requirements
Performance & Efficiency
· Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per mile, and driver productivity
· Identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency and reduce costs
· Collaborate with leadership on process improvements
Qualifications
· 2-3 years of dispatch experience in transportation or logistics
· Strong understanding of Winnipeg and regional routes
· Experience with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems
· Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
