Position Overview
Symbiotic Landscapes is seeking a reliable, hard-working Turf Crew Member to join our Turf Management team. This is a fast-paced, hands-on position focused on maintaining large turf areas and public green spaces to a high standard.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working efficiently and safely throughout the day, primarily operating stand-on mowing equipment, line trimmers, and blowers. At different points in the season, they may also assist with a variety of landscape maintenance duties across our other programs.
Candidates with strong equipment experience, a positive attitude, and demonstrated reliability will be considered for lead or supervisory opportunities as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Operate stand-on and ride-on mowers safely and efficiently in a high-production mowing environment.
- Perform line trimming, edging, blowing, and site cleanup to maintain a professional finish.
- Complete scheduled turf maintenance work at assigned properties.
- Load, unload, operate, and perform basic daily checks on mowing and landscape equipment.
- Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and keeping trucks, trailers, and work areas organized.
- Work productively as part of a crew while maintaining a consistent pace and quality standard.
- Follow all company health and safety policies, traffic and site-safety procedures, and equipment-operating practices.
- Assist with other landscape maintenance duties as required throughout the season, including weeding, pruning, debris removal, planting, and general site cleanup.
- Interact professionally and courteously with clients, site staff, and members of the public.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in turf management, commercial landscape maintenance, or outdoor labour is required.
- Experience operating stand-on or ride-on mowers is required.
- Experience using line trimmers, backpack blowers, and other landscape maintenance equipment is required.
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment without compromising quality or safety.
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and work ethic.
- Physical ability to perform outdoor manual work, including standing, walking, lifting, and operating equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s licence is required.
- Experience driving a truck and trailer is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a crew.
- Experience with basic equipment care and daily pre-trip or operational inspections is an asset.
