We manufacture and install Retractable Tarp Systems for flatbed trailers. We also operate a repair shop and a retail store for cargo equipment, tarps, and other truck & trailer accessories. We are a family-owned business that has been around since 1986.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly motivated and mechanically knowledgeable Parts & Equipment Sales Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background combined with excellent communication and sales skills. They will work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide solutions, utilizing their in-depth knowledge of our products or services. The role requires providing expert advice and building strong client relationships to drive sales and achieve revenue targets.
ABOUT THE JOB:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales and Business Development:
· Generate and follow-up on leads and identify potential customers for Verduyn products, identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling based on customer needs.
· Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve sales targets and grow customer base
· Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective customers to encourage repeat business and referrals
2. Customer Service:
· Provide customer service to customers and in-bound callers for cargo equipment and related flatbed trucking supplies.
· Understand customer needs, answering questions, and offering suitable solutions.
· Handle the sales of equipment and supplies to walk in customers.
· Work closely with customers (via telephone, email / fax/ text) as needed.
3. Product Knowledge:
· Learn and maintain deep knowledge of the parts and equipment offered, including their features, benefits, applications, and maintenance.
· Stay up to date on all new developments within the trucking industry regarding equipment needs.
4. Order Processing:
· Ensure timely processing of customer orders, including order entry, coordinating shipping and ensuring that products are delivered on time.
· Prepare accurate quotes for customers based on their requirements, including applicable taxes, discounts, and shipping costs.
· Filing invoices, packing slips and work orders.
5. Inventory Management:
· Stock and replenish the showroom according to Verduyn Tarps standards
· Maintaining a clean and orderly showroom on a daily basis
· Assist in monitoring inventory levels and ensuring that inventory levels are reported to the appropriate party to meet customer demand.
6. General:
· Provide back up to our Service team when necessary
· Back up the CX team, when needed
· Handle cash, credit cards or debit cards transactions
· Other duties as required
ABOUT YOU:
- You’re an exceptional 'people-person' with a strong business acumen.
- Awesome customer service and support skills with a minimum of 3-5 years related experience.
- Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks and work with a sense of URGENCY.
- Strong initiative and ability to handle increasing responsibility over time.
- Reliable and punctual team player with a POSITIVE ‘can-do’ attitude. You can be counted on to get the job done on time and with attention to detail.
- Proven experience in parts and technical sales, preferably in the trucking industry – knowledge of flatbed trailers would be a significant asset.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with customers
- Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to gain an in-depth knowledge of all parts and equipment used in our industry, including technical specifications
OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Computer and technology competent.
- Proficient with MS Office and systems software as required.
- Experience working within an ERP system would be a valued asset.
- Excellent telephone manner.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

- Position is full-time Monday through Friday as well as occasional Saturdays.
