Canada Pump and Power is hiring a Permanent Part-Time Certified Boom Truck Driver for work in and around Alberta. The ideal candidate will have a Boom Truck Journeyperson Certificate with a minimum Valid Class 3 Drivers License. They will have the ability to transport flat deck loads to various project locations throughout Alberta, primarily between Calgary, Fort Saskatchewan and Fort McMurray, AB. We are looking for someone who is wanting to do 1-2 trips per week.
The Boom Truck Drivers provide support to Operations and Customers through the safe operation of the boom truck and transport trucks; Inspects and maintains trucks and other related equipment; Documents and reports information related to productivity to Supervision and Management; Assists with general operations including loading and unloading, when not operating equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow company processes and company Safe Work Procedures and Practices
- Work within Company, Customer, and other existing standards and regulations pertaining to their scope of work
- Reporting and rectifying potential hazards, accidents, and near misses
- Documentation and Knowledge - Perform Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRA); Conduct pre-use equipment inspections and report required maintenance; Document and report total daily productivity including total loads hauled; Gain familiarization with Customer and Canada Pump and Power rules, regulations and standards;
- Operate and Maintain Trucks - Conduct regular fueling and fluid checks; Perform required vehicle housekeeping and light maintenance; Report damage and required maintenance; Operate a truck to and from loading and unloading zones safely
- Assist with general operations - Conduct cleaning of the truck and trailers; Perform equipment and asset counts in various locations around worksite; Unload and put away stock orders; Assist equipment operators with general maintenance and cleaning on machinery; Review and participate in revision of procedures as per management request; Transport light and large trucks to offsite maintenance facilities; Conduct snow removal and ice control
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Pumps 100 course
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) certificate
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training (WHMIS)
- Global Harmonized System (GHS)
- Minimum Class 3 driver’s license with air brake rating (Q Rating) with an acceptable 3 year minimum driving record
- Boom Ticket certification
- Site Specific Orientation(s)
- Permit Training (Hot/Cold)
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods training (TDG)
- Must participate and pass screening tests for drugs, alcohol, and other controlled substances
Work Environment:
- Occasionally exposed to dusty, muddy, icy, and/or uneven road conditions
- Occasionally exposed to noisy and/or dusty environments
- Occasionally exposed to inclement weather conditions
Physical Demands:
- Able to work day shifts up to 12 hours long
- Capable of moving over and around obstacles
- Capable of lifting large or heavy loads sometimes up to 18 kg
