Deck City specializes in building high-quality outdoor and enclosed living spaces, including custom decks, pergolas, sunrooms and other residential structures.
We are looking for an Experienced Carpenter with a strong residential construction background to join our build team.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, enjoys building custom projects and can complete residential carpentry tasks safely and efficiently. You will work alongside experienced team members while continuing to develop your abilities and take on greater responsibility.
What We Offer
- $26–$34 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability
- Full-time, permanent, year-round employment
- Monday-to-Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
- No regular weekend work
- Occasional overtime
- Two to three weeks of vacation, depending on experience
- Planned company shutdown of approximately two to three weeks over Christmas

Your Responsibilities
- Build and install decks, pergolas, sunrooms and related residential structures
- Complete framing, exterior finishing and installation work
- Read and follow construction drawings, plans and measurements
- Work closely with the Lead Carpenter and other crew members
- Complete assigned work accurately and efficiently
- Identify construction issues and bring them to the attention of the Lead Carpenter
- Properly use and care for construction tools and materials
- Maintain clean, safe and organized residential job sites
- Communicate professionally with team members, supervisors and homeowners
- Help ensure finished work meets Deck City’s quality standards
What We Are Looking For
- Multiple years of hands-on residential carpentry or renovation experience
- Experience with framing, deck construction or exterior finishing
- Ability to safely and confidently use standard carpentry tools
- Ability to read measurements and follow construction plans
- Ability to work independently once tasks and expectations are established
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Willingness to learn, accept direction and take on greater responsibility
- Dependable attendance and professional conduct
- Valid Manitoba driver’s licence
- Reliable personal vehicle for travelling to Winnipeg job sites
- Clear English communication skills for planning and workplace safety
Red Seal certification is not required. We value demonstrated hands-on ability and practical residential construction experience.
Additional Assets
- Experience building custom or high-end residential projects
- Experience with sunrooms, pergolas, additions or complex decks
- Exterior finishing experience
- Experience working directly with homeowners
- Interest in progressing into a Lead Carpenter position
Compensation and Advancement
The position pays $26–$34 per hour, based on demonstrated experience, skill level and the amount of responsibility the successful applicant can take on.
Applicants with strong framing, finishing and independent construction abilities may be considered toward the upper end of the range.
Deck City provides annual wage increases and opportunities to advance into greater responsibility and leadership roles.
