Job Summary:
We are presently seeking a Montreal-based Automation Developer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in PLC and HMI programming. As an Automation Developer, you will be a key driver of efficiency and innovation, designing, developing, and implementing cutting-edge automation solutions that streamline processes and enhance productivity.
Core Responsibilities:
- Program Design & Development: Translate functional specifications and customer requirements into efficient and reliable PLC programs, utilizing your expertise in ladder logic, structured text, or other programming languages.

System Integration & Testing: Integrate PLC programs with various hardware components, including sensors, actuators, HMIs, and communication networks. Conduct thorough testing to validate program functionality, safety, and efficiency.

Troubleshooting & Optimization: Diagnose and resolve PLC-related issues during installation, commissioning, and ongoing operations. Continuously analyze system performance and identify opportunities for optimization and enhancement.

Documentation & Training: Develop comprehensive documentation for all PLC programs, including logic diagrams, I/O lists, and user manuals. Provide training to maintenance and operations personnel on program functionality and troubleshooting.
Technical Expertise:
- PLC Programming: Mastery of PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text, Function Block Diagram) and a deep understanding of PLC hardware architectures.

Industrial Communication: Familiarity with common industrial communication protocols, such as Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and Profibus.

Troubleshooting & Debugging: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively diagnose and resolve PLC-related issues in a timely manner.

Electrical & Automation Systems: Solid understanding of electrical schematics, control panel design, and general automation principles.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Essential:
- Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent in English (oral and written) with a working knowledge of French.

Educational Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering or a closely related field.

Technical Aptitude: Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude, including the ability to interpret and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics.

PLC & HMI Expertise: Proven experience in programming PLCs and HMIs:

2-4 years of hands-on experience.

Senior Level: 5-7 years of experience, showcasing advanced programming skills and project leadership.

Detail-Oriented: Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all programming tasks.

Independent & Collaborative: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also thriving in a team environment.
Highly Desirable:
