Brookside Retirement Living is an 82-unit supportive and assisted living community for seniors in Kanata North. We are looking for hard-working, reliable and compassionate full and part time RPN, Nursing Student or Unregulated Care Providers (UCPs).
Job Description
The RPN or UCP is considered the "Charge Staff" while on duty. They are charged with following residents’ care plans, administering medications, and observing and reporting any substantial findings or clinical changes in residents' behaviour to the appropriate member of the team. Attending to emergency call bells and leadership in emergency response plan.
Hours & Shifts
Hours: 7am-7pm
Shifts: 4-6 shifts spread through a 14 day pay period. (44-66 hours per pay period)
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
- RPN or UCP is responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with the provincial standards of care
- to complete and ensure resident's care assessment, care / service plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and changes communicated as required;
- to provide direct resident care and medication / treatment administration and document care in compliance with regulatory (RHRA) Resident Care standards and policies and procedures;
- To process physicians orders and safe keep drugs and narcotics and administer incompliance with regulatory requirements. To respond to and manage significant changes in resident's condition and / or medical emergencies; provide emergency first aid;
- To respond to resident / family concerns and ensure appropriate action taken and / or convert communicated to DOC / DOW, Manager of Operations and other departments;
- To complete all other duties as assigned.
- In-charge overnight as team lead.
- Take a leadership role in administering the emergency plan if required.
- Maintaining a clean, safe environment for all residents, in particular those utilizing infection control protocols
- Attend to emergency call bells and support resident needs as required.
- Lending help with residents’ personal care, such as toileting, bathing, and dressing as needed
- Provide meaningful engagement to all residents with empathy and compassion
- Demonstrate leadership skills by leading by example with others
- Other duties are requested
Wage:
UCP: $19.78/Hour
RNP: $27.05-30/hour
***Additional Shift Premiums for Overnight and Weekends.
Qualifications:
- Proof of current registration as a RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario or proof of certification as UCP.
- Experience working in a Retirement / Long Term Care Home preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively (in English), with residents, their families, and other staff
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team
- Current CPR training and certification.
Full-time, part-time and casual positions available.
