Build on your career experience by:
Delivering direct patient care by assessing, planning and evaluating nursing care to patients in an acute medical unit or within an outpatient intravenous (IV) setting and/or in a residential setting or home environment
Performing peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) insertions in order to establish and/or maintain intravenous therapy.
Assessing patients receiving IV therapy and collecting information from a variety of sources
Participating in the care and discharge planning process for patients by ensuring the care plan is established and implemented effectively
Coordinating nursing care for the patient; setting priorities, assigning and delegating tasks to support staff, and making referrals according to established protocols and practice standards
Working collaboratively and in partnership with the interprofessional care team in the provision of person-centered care
Instructing patients and families/care givers about illness prevention, health restoration and health maintenance to help patients in accomplishing their health care goals
Your background includes:
Graduation from an approved school of Nursing
Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
Advanced proficiencies in peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) insertions
Valid BC Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle for business related purposes
This is a casual role located at Surrey Memorial Hospital (SMH) in Surrey, BC. SMH is a 611 acute care bed, University of B.C. affiliated, regional referral and community teaching hospital that has the busiest emergency in B.C. Surrey is one of Canada’s fastest growing cities and its land mass makes it the largest city in the province. Known as the City of Parks, Surrey has over 6,000 acres of parkland and 15 golf courses and driving ranges. Despite rapid growth, Surrey has held onto the rural flavour of its past, with about 35 per cent of its land designated as agricultural and still actively farmed.
