S&R Sawmills has a long history of Custom Cutting in the Lower Mainland. We are family run business that was established in 1963 and currently has a workforce of over 400 employees on a large strip of the Fraser River. Role Description:
Reporting to the Head Mechanic, this position is responsible for maintenance, diagnostics and repairs of boats, vehicles, forklifts and logging equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Read & understand plans and specifications, including the Operator’s Manuals for equipment repairs
- Use appropriate hand and power tools to repair, replace or perform maintenance on equipment
- Repair and service: Caterpillar, Kobelco, Deere, Komatsu, Hyster, Yale, and Hyundai equipment, both in the shop and in the field
- Diagnose, identify and repair problems faults and malfunctions in structural, mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Maintain and repair equipment including, but not limited to, sidewinder boats, loaders, trucks, forklifts, and tracked equipment
- Take direction from the Head Mechanic and work harmoniously with coworkers to ensure all repairs and tasks are completed to the highest quality
- Work in a safe manner following all Safe Work Procedures
- Correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management or a member of the safety committee
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic with a minimum of 5 years’ experience required
- Competency using various computer systems to record and document repairs and diagnose problems
- Physical demands include the ability to push, pull, drag and lift items up to 50 lbs. and occasionally work at shoulder level with equipment up to 25 lbs.
- Must be available Monday to Friday (6:00am-2:30pm or 9:30am-6:00pm), with the ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
- Must supply your own personal set of hand tools to perform basic repairs
- Self-sufficient and highly motivated to complete tasks in a timely matter
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License
