The Reliability Engineer is assigned to identifying, developing and implementing engineering and system projects to improve plant condition, operability, equipment reliability, cost optimization, comply with environmental and safety performance. In carrying out the duties of this position, a primary objective is to improve the value of all company assets through increased reliability and lower operating costs while allowing the operation of the equipment to meet production requirements within budget guidelines.
Identify, scope, plan and implement plant and equipment reliability improvement projects
Performs equipment reliability analysis to identify main drivers of equipment downtime/ breakdown and leads the process to determine cost effective solutions
Assist in planning, scheduling and supervising preventative maintenance activities performed by in-house and contractors
Supports the annual shutdown process (planning, scheduling, execution and supervision)
Supports the preventive maintenance head to develop the component replacement strategy based on systematic risk evaluation and potential reliability improvements
Coordination with rCIP North America Maintenance and Technology engineers & subject matter experts
Guarantee and foster compliance with OH&S and environment policies for all maintenance personnel and contractors. Tackle specific actions to support this.
Assist with inspection coordination on registered equipment such as ABSA pressure vessels
Review and interpret vibration data to determine the cause and remedy
Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness. Internal controls providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect
Participate in remote inspection of vessels/piloting the drone
Conduct the necessary activities to maintain and improve the condition of the installations/assets and to assure proper functioning of equipment and systems.
Provide periodic on-call technical input and maintenance repair supervision
Execute Root Cause Analysis sessions, develop solutions, and drive their implementation
Execute improvement actions through the use of internal labor and contractors
Relationships with Other Jobs:
Reports to the Preventative Maintenance Head (P.Eng)
Assists production department with specific mechanical problems
Work with maintenance coordinators and planners to execute preventive and predictive maintenance program
Work with preventive maintenance and with process teams in improving the plant reliability
Assist maintenance manager in the development of the maintenance budget and the tracking of performance indicators
Provide assistance in the mechanical design and execution of plant capital projects.
Required Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Field of Study Preferred: Mechanical Engineering
Work Experience: At least 1 year’s experience (coop terms acceptable) in a heavy industry plant/production environment
Required Computer and Software Skills: Comprehensive computer software knowledge required, including Excel, Word, Project, Auto CAD, SAP, etc. is preferred
Experience with vibration monitoring equipment and analysis would be an asset
Experience with ABSA and pressure vessel inspection would be an asset
Travel Requirements: Minimal
