Position Summary:
As a member of the Hamlet Crew, the Heavy Truck Operator is responsible for operating the heavy truck and when required, or other heavy equipment, in a safe and effective manner ensuring wastewater is picked up and delivered to treatment facilities.
The Heavy Truck Operator will provide back-up support within the Hamlet Crew operations as required.
Key Responsibilities:
· Haul Wastewater for delivery at a treatment facility.
· Hook up and load wastewater from a holding tank.
· Hook up and discharge wastewater at treatment facility.
· Report any dangerous or unsafe road conditions.
· Perform all daily safety and maintenance checks.
· Perform general care and maintenance of all equipment being used; notify the Foreman of any repairs required.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area.
· Ensure adherence to all applicable Wheatland County policies and bylaws.
· Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at safety meetings, being properly trained in OH&S related topics, and ensuring work is completed in a safe manner.
· Appropriately, and in a timely manner complete administrative tasks when required.
· Relate to and communicate with co-workers, management, customers and vendors sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly and courteously; respond to inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
· Perform tasks, consistent with the position, including special projects / assignments, as may be required on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications:
· Experience working with heavy equipment including equipment maintenance and storage procedures
· Experience and knowledge of road construction, snow removal and road maintenance
· 3 years’ experience driving similar vehicles and hauling similar commodities is preferred
· Valid Class 1 Alberta drivers’ licence
Working Conditions:
· Monday to Friday, 40 regular hours/week
· Shifts may be adjusted to cover statutory holidays
· Occasional overtime may be required
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $31.64-$38.90 per hour
