Poly-Nova opened in Guelph in 1996. We have a 30,000 square foot manufacturing plant and employ about 150 employees. We produce rubber products for the automotive & power transmission industries. Our areas of expertise are in rubber molding, material development, engineering, injection molding and over molding.
We were purchased by Starlim Sterner in 2011, market leaders in Silicone Liquid Injection Molding, with the head office in Austria and a manufacturing plant in London Ontario. With the ability to offer rubber and silicone under one company we can expect exceptional growth for the future.

PRODUCT ENGINEER TECHNICIAN
Position Overview
The Product Engineering Technician – Level 2 supports the development and execution of engineering projects from concept to implementation. Acting as a key link between engineering, sales, and cross-functional teams, this role ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification. The position focuses on product design, manufacturability, and process improvement, while developing technical drawings, prototypes, and documentation. This role also collaborates with internal teams, customers, and vendors to resolve technical issues and support successful project outcomes in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Compensation: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
Objectives
- Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and sales, overseeing project planning, execution, and timely delivery within budget and specifications.
- Provide technical leadership for project management and implementation
- Manage engineering projects from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Responsibilities
a. Main Tasks
- Lead the full project lifecycle, from initial planning to tactical execution.
- Colloborate with the Engineering and Technical teams to design and implement sealing solutions while considering core manufacturing process capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product design for labour and material efficiency.
- Analyze tooling and equipment to enhance manufacturability.
- Develop engineering drawings, schematics and prototypes based upon pre-defined product requirements.
- Coordinate with Engineering Team to determine equipment and materials specifications.
- Plan project timelines, milestones, and deliverables using appropriate project management tools.
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, including customers and vendors, to address technical issues and provide support.
- Preparation of final project documentation, including manuals and associated reports, to ensure successful project completion.
General Tasks
- Create and maintain CAD working plans and technical drawings for projects.
- Organize and manage digital CAD file database for each project.
- Review engineering plans and generate technical reports to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Apply problem-solving strategies to address project challenges.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all work, products, and relevant activities.
3. Qualifications/ Requirements/ Competencies
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
- 3 to 5 years project management experience in a relevant industry, such as rubber or plastics manufacturing.
- Extensive knowledge on APQP and GD&T principles.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, and other CAD software
- In-depth knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts and best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office & Adobe software.
