About the Saint-Louis Residence
Saint-Louis Residence is a 198 bed Long-Term Care (LTC) home with convalescent care, peritoneal dialysis and respite programs situated in a quiet residential neighborhood on a picturesque setting on the edge of the Ottawa river. We are a designated francophone organization and are proud to serve clients in both official languages. We value our employees and their professional development. What would my role be?
Reporting to the Director of Care or delegate, as a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will provide care which is safe, effective, resident-centered, ethical, and evidence-based to residents. Within your scope of practice and in accordance with organizational policies, procedures and standards and with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) practice standards, you will assist residents and their loved ones to manage clinical conditions and transitions using a holistic approach. You will assess the residents and engage them and their loved ones to develop and maintain a plan of care which promotes the resident’s quality of life and optimal autonomy. You will oversee the provision of care and provide guidance to the clinical staff assigned to the home area.
How do I qualify?
Required:
- Valid certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
- Recent related clinical experience (work or educational related)
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Level C certificate
- Fluent in French and English
Preferred:
- Membership in relevant professional associations (e.g. RNAO, CGNA, OARN, etc)
- Related specialty certification (e.g. CNA certification)
- Peritoneal dialysis certification
- Good knowledge of infection prevention and control, as well as occupational health and safety
- Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) and/or P.I.E.C.E.S. certification
- Knowledge of PointClickCare software
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training
What skills should I possess to succeed in the role?
- Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, delegation and problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills (oral and written)
- Able to develop, implement, evaluate, maintain and modify a plan of care
- Strong leadership skills and competency to oversee practice of Registered Practical Nurses (RPNs) and Health Care Aides (HCAs)
- Able to teach and mentor RPNs, other RNs, students and HCAs
- Conflict resolution skills
- Motivation towards professional growth and development
- Able to work within an interdisciplinary team
- Able to work under pressure and to adapt to change
- Intermediate Computer skills
