About the Role
We are seeking a confident, engaging Dental Assistant who wants to transition into teaching and mentoring adult learners.
This is a hybrid instructional role, combining:
- Online classroom instruction (virtual lectures, discussions, and assessments)
- Scheduled on-campus practical teaching weeks throughout the academic year
You’ll teach approved curriculum, guide students through both theory and hands-on skills, and help prepare them for success in the field.
This role is not based in a dental clinic and is significantly less physically demanding than chair side work.
What You’ll Do
Teaching & Student Support
- Deliver engaging online and in-person instruction aligned with program outcomes
- Lead virtual classes and facilitate discussion in a supportive learning environment
- Assess assignments, tests, and exams
- Mentor and support students through their academic journey
On-Campus Practical Instruction
- Teach and evaluate clinical, lab, and radiography skills during scheduled campus weeks
- Support students during hands-on skill development
- Ensure labs and clinics are ready for instructional use
Collaboration & Administration
- Record attendance and grades using Nova/Moodle
- Communicate student progress and concerns with the Program Coordinator
- Participate in faculty meetings, PD days, and required training
Teaching Schedule (At a Glance)
- Online instruction: Scheduled weekday mornings during teaching blocks
- On-campus instruction: Two scheduled practical blocks per year (full-time weeks)
- Built-in breaks: Non-teaching periods throughout the academic year

What We’re Looking For
Required
- NDAEB Certification
- 3–5 years of experience as a Dental Assistant
- Eligibility to meet Private Career Colleges Act (PCCA) requirements
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED (or willingness to obtain)
- Comfort presenting to groups and leading a virtual classroom
Assets
- Teaching, mentoring, or precepting experience
- ODAA membership (or willingness to obtain)
Immunization records, references, and a criminal record check are required prior to start.
