The Environmental Technician is responsible for performing specialized remediation and abatement work while maintaining strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and industry standards. This role conducts mold remediation, asbestos and lead abatements, and trauma or biohazard cleans in accordance with IICRC guidelines, WorkSafeBC requirements, and provincial health regulations. The technician supports Water Damage Technicians with containment setup, equipment placement, and demolition tasks, and responds to emergency on-call situations, including after-hours and weekend events.
Responsibilities:
· Perform mold remediation following IICRC and safety standards.
· Conduct asbestos and lead abatements, including proper containment and disposal as per WorkSafeBC.
· Handle trauma and biohazard cleans, adhering to IICRC and provincial health regulations.
·· Respond to emergency on-call jobs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
· Work overtime when required to meet project timelines or respond to urgent events.
· Accurately identify and assess contaminated materials requiring removal or special handling.
· Maintain a clean and safe job site, wearing all required PPE and respiratory protection.
· Submit daily email updates and time sheets.
· Take and send photos of damage, progress, and completed work.
· Complete supply sheets and restock materials when needed.
· Follow all required documentation protocols for compliance and insurance.
Key Qualifications:
· Certified in Asbestos Level 2 and 3 , Lead and Mold remediation.
· Clean criminal record.
· Valid BC Drivers license with clean Abstract.
· Physically capable of lifting and carrying a minimum of 50 lbs.
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Minimum 1 year of experience in setting up containment.
· Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC policies and procedures regarding Asbestos, Mold and Lead.
· Must be clean-shaven and able to wear PPE.
· Able to participate in our on-call after-hours rotation.
