Our Alberta Water Team is growing, and we want you to join our Water Team to work alongside others who share your passion to support communities through exciting and unique water, wastewater, general civil infrastructure and renewal projects, as well as water resources and natural system projects. You will participate with a team of professionals in the management of construction of large-scale Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant projects of varying phases from conceptual planning, design, construction, and occupancy. Your role as a contributor on our professional consulting services team will be to work independently on large projects of high complexity.

Job Description
As a Construction Inspector, you will provide on-site inspection and documentation for municipal infrastructure projects, including water distribution, sanitary sewer, stormwater systems, and roadway construction. In this role, you will help ensure that work is completed in accordance with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory standards while supporting project managers and engineers throughout the construction process.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform daily field inspections of civil infrastructure construction.
- Monitor contractor activities for compliance with project plans, specifications, and municipal standards.
- Document daily construction activities, quantities, and site conditions using inspection reports and photo logs.
- Observe and verify construction materials, testing procedures, and workmanship.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, utility providers, and municipal staff to help in resolving field issues.
- Assist with reviewing shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental requirements. Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates.
- On occasion, oversee and manage other staff as required by the project. This includes the mentorship and development of Junior staff.
- Cultivate and maintain a positive working relationship with client representatives and service providers.
Minimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in construction or construction inspection for municipal civil infrastructure.
- Understanding of water, sanitary, storm, and roadway construction methods and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 20+ years of experience in construction/ construction inspection for municipal civil infrastructure.
- Proficiency with inspection documentation tools (e.g., tablets, daily logs, photo documentation).
- Familiarity with municipal codes, public works standards, and construction best practices.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- Engineering Technologist Certification
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
