The Integrated Technology and Electronic Services (ITES) division is hiring a Field Services Supervisor reporting directly to the ITES Manager and provides operational oversight of field-based electronic and transportation systems supporting bridge operations. The position is responsible for the maintenance, monitoring, testing, diagnosis, repair, and lifecycle management of electronic and intelligent transportation systems (including traffic management, roadside communication, wireless, weather stations, security cameras, and emergency phones) supporting HHB operations. This position ensures effective operations through structured preventative maintenance, system monitoring, prioritized fault response, and continuous improvement programs to support system reliability and performance.
This position designated as a safety-sensitive position, requiring work in variable and adverse weather conditions, active traffic environments, extreme heights (170 to 320 feet), and confined spaces within bridge structures. A critical accountability is adherence to the HHB Safety standards, policies and processes. This includes hazard assessments, wearing required Personal Protective Equipment, proper access to confined spaces, and safety observations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for HHB's technology, electronic, and electrical infrastructure supporting safe, reliable, and efficient bridge operations.
- Uphold and promote safety standards, policies, and procedures in a safety-sensitive environment, including hazard assessments, PPE compliance, confined space access, incident reporting, corrective actions, and safety observations.
- Oversee the maintenance, monitoring, testing, diagnosis, repair, replacement, and performance of Intelligent Transportation and Electronic Systems, including traffic management, surveillance/security, road weather, communications, cameras, scanners, antennas, cabling, power supplies, and related infrastructure.
- Ensure system reliability and availability by prioritizing failures, coordinating repair resources, maintaining critical spare inventory, and enforcing structured response protocols.
- Support and infrastructure environments, including hardware deployment, system upgrades, power distribution, backup power systems, and end-user support, including development of training materials and user documentation.
- Lead and supervise staff by assigning, planning, and reviewing work; directing workflow; monitoring workload and priorities; conducting performance evaluations; and supporting recruitment, training, and professional development through coaching, mentoring, and delegation.
- Ensure employees and contractors maintain full compliance with safety requirements, including training, certifications, inspections, incident reporting, and documentation, and that corrective actions are implemented and tracked.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ITES policies, procedures, and service delivery models to enhance operational efficiency, technical performance, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Monitor and report on team performance, priorities, and backlog using operational and statistical reporting tools to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory or equivalent people leadership experience, including assigning work, managing performance, and directing team operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of intelligent transportation systems, traffic management systems, surveillance technologies, and related electronic field infrastructure.
- Project management training or demonstrated experience coordinating technical projects, resources, timelines and deliverables (Asset)
- Workplace safety training and knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and Acts related to the work environment (Asset)
- Experience working in a fast-paced, project-driven environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence
Position details:
- Hiring 1 position. This is a Full-time, Permanent, Non-union position, working 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- Shift work, on-call response, and extended hours will be required based on operational demands.
- The annual salary range for this position is $73,376 - $91,720.
Working conditions:
This role is primarily office-based at HHB facilities, with periodic requirements to work in equipment rooms and field environments, including bridge decks. On-call availability is required to support critical infrastructure and incident response. Work is performed in office, field, and bridge environments with exposure to vehicular traffic, moving equipment, noise, adverse weather, extreme heights, and confined spaces while supporting bridge operations and maintenance. The position involves managing competing priorities, time-sensitive incidents, and complex technical and operational issues, requiring sustained mental focus, sound judgment, and effective decision-making.
