Youth Soccer Coach – Recreational & Development Programs
IMPORTANT ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT
Applicants must have at least one year of organized soccer playing experience and be able to demonstrate basic soccer techniques. Teaching, childcare, volunteering or general youth-work experience alone does not meet this requirement.
This is an in-person role at program locations in Mississauga. Some weekday sessions require coaches to arrive by 5:45 p.m. Please apply only if your normal rush-hour commute allows you to arrive reliably.
Mississauga United FC is hiring dependable, energetic part-time coaches to lead fun and age-appropriate recreational and player-development sessions for children and youth.
Position details
- Pay: $20–$28 per hour, based on experience, qualifications and assignment
- Hours: approximately 3–10 hours per week, with possible additional hours
- Schedule: weekday evenings and/or weekends
- Location: in person at program locations in Mississauga
- Employment: part-time, seasonal
This role is open to experienced youth coaches and promising developing coaches who have a soccer-playing background. A coaching licence is an asset but is not required for every assignment; suitable developing coaches may receive session plans, mentorship and support with coach education.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver safe, active and inclusive soccer sessions
- Teach fundamentals such as dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting, movement and teamwork
- Follow club session plans and player-development guidelines
- Adapt activities to players’ ages, abilities and experience
- Encourage confidence, participation, sportsmanship and respect
- Set up and put away equipment
- Supervise players and communicate professionally with parents, coaches and club staff
- Arrive on time, prepared and ready to lead
Required qualifications
- At least one year of organized soccer playing experience
- Ability to explain and demonstrate basic soccer techniques and activities
- Positive, patient and reliable approach with children
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Availability on weekday evenings and/or weekends
- Reliable transportation to program locations in Mississauga
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Willingness to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and obtain First Aid/CPR where required
Preferred assets
- Previous youth soccer coaching experience
- Competitive playing experience
- Canada Soccer or Ontario Soccer coach education
- Camp, school, recreation or community-program experience
- Education or experience in teaching, early childhood education, kinesiology, recreation or sport management
- Interest in coaching girls’ programs
