MANA is seeking a Quality Technician to join our growing team.
The Quality Technician collects, labels and tests all samples required by the Metallurgical Department at MANA.
Duties and responsibilities
Mechanical Testing
- Preparation and testing of samples (Tensile, Hardness, Straightening, Bend
- Troubleshooting equipment issues
- Setting up new equipment with Engineering support.
Metallography
- Sample preparation (Cut, Mount, Polish, Etch)
- Troubleshooting equipment issues, setting up new equipment with Engineering support
- Sample evaluation (Cleanliness, Defect Identification, Decarburization depth, Grain Size, etc.
Inspection
- Visual inspection of Coils and Bars
- Measurement of Coils and Bars (Weight, Dimensions)
- Daily use of handheld Micrometers and stationary laser measuring equipment
- Assists in projects, initiatives and inquiries as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Secondary Education/GED required.
- Completion of Post-Secondary Education an asset.
- Knowledge of Metallurgy and Steel Processing.
- Previous experience in a Quality Department an asset.
Working conditions
- Mill Environment.
- Rotational 12 hour shift pattern.
- Ability to lift up to 45lbs.
