MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL (Part-Time) – Seaforth LTC & Retirement Community

Maintenance Personnel are invited to apply for part time (contract) position to work at 63-bed Long-Term Care Home and 34 bed Retirement Community located in Seaforth, Ontario.

Under the direction of the Executive Director the maintenance person is responsible for repairs and maintenance of the entire home and grounds in accordance with home policies, procedure and work routines.


Complete work repairs as identified by staff and / or residents and family
Assess equipment and the building for remedial repairs
Respond to emergencies of the building / equipment
Evaluate challenges and plan for corrective actions with the Executive Director
Working knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Carpentry, Plumbing and ability to completed General repairs.
Follow the annual preventative maintenance work routine, make suggestions for updates as deemed necessary, and prioritize work daily – depending on safety standards.
Coordinate with the Executive Director daily and oversee contractors for large projects as assigned.
Follow Health and Safety rules including wearing PPE’s as determined,
Document work completed, daily, monthly and annually
Work in resident’s home areas, causing the least amount of disruption to their daily routines.
Keep work space clean and tidy, and ensure tools are safe at all times.
Stock parts for repairs in conversation with Executive Director.
Complete tasks according to regulations. Long Term Care Act, Ministry of Labour and Extendicare Policy.


Mentally and physically able to perform duties and repairs as assigned
Supply tools required for daily repairs.
Ability to communicate positively with other staff, residents and families
Demonstrates empathy, concern and interest in providing quality care and service to residents
Demonstrates organizational skills and ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proven ability to read and write English and understand verbal and written instructions in English.
