Reports to: Manager, Human Resources
The Role
The Human Resources Generalist provides excellent client service and supports the full employee lifecycle including but not limited to recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, disability management, HR operations, compliance and other departmental initiatives, along with key administrative support. The Human Resources Generalist is a driven and results-oriented member of a dedicated Human Resources team.
- Manage end-to-end recruitment process with aptitude to source candidates that can contribute to YNCU’s success which includes but is not limited to job postings, resume retention, screening and short-listing candidates, interviewing, employment reference checking, bonding applications, and preparation of employment contracts or letters
- Team up with Learning & Development to ensure an enthusiastic onboarding for new employees
- Ensure completion of HR checklists for staff changes, including new hires, exits, staff changes, return to work, to ensure accurate employee and payroll related information is reflected in HRIS and related systems
- Foster and maintain a high degree of trust within the relationships you build through the trademark service you provide while meeting the needs of our clients
- Participate as an active management team member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)
- Assist in the administration of leave and disability management for employee pregnancy/parental leaves, ESA leaves, sick leaves, short term disability, long term disability and other absences
- In conjunction with the Manager, Human Resources, provides sound guidance and advice on general HR matters and ensures adherence to HR Policies, procedures, programs, Collective Agreements and relative legislation
- Provide support for performance evaluation processes and performance management program, including assisting with the preparation of documented performance conversations, Employee Incident Reports, Performance Improvement Plans, etc.
- Perform HR and Labour Relations administrative functions including but not limited to the maintenance of employee files, preparation of documentation, and general responses to Union inquiries
- Assist with vacation scheduling processes and review branch scheduling as required to ensure adherence to established processes and the terms of the Collective Agreements
- Research available HR products, platforms, services and technologies and associated cost as required
- Participate in preparation for collective bargaining and other labour relations processes
- Develop and maintain records/databases, track data, provide trend analysis and compile statistics in respect of human resources programs; compile reports for key performance indicators related to human resources and labour relations
- Attend and participate in meetings as required
- Provide excellent client service to internal and external parties and maintain effective relationships with various client groups
- Recommend revisions to policies and procedures to assist in keeping HR current on best practices and new trends or developments and applicable legislation
- Be aware of enterprise risk management issues as they relate to Human Resources and bring forward risk issues for discussion, review and solutions to the Manager, Human Resources
- Remain current on employment standards and other applicable legislation
- Abide by YNCU policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practice
- Assist with special projects as required

What we are looking for:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in the field of human resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years of previous experience in human resources field
- CHRP designation or working towards, considered an asset
- Experience working in a financial institution and/or unionized environment is an asset
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) and aptitude for computer-based tools
- Well-developed networking and researching skills
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and available reliable vehicle
- Ability to travel to all YNCU locations
- Ability to work flexible hours, at times
- Must be bondable

Salary range: $73,000-$78,000
The compensation offered to the successful applicant for this role will be determined by the candidate’s relevant skills and experience and internal equity. More information about our total rewards package will be available during the hiring process.
