Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Our Capital Projects Group, Engineering and Asset Management – Electrification is seeking a Senior Manager– Electrification to deliver the Reference Concept Design and performance output specifications for construction, implementation, and commissioning of electrification systems for the GO Expansion OnCorr Project. This role is responsible for ensuring that the technical deliverables are delivered within estimated timelines and budgets.
Plans the direction and coordination of SME, Technical Advisor and rail operational activities and evaluates environmental assessment commitments and functions to ensure delivery schedule is maintained
Develops the conceptual technical scope of the electrification base case for the OnCorr project, including planned commissioning activities and component work packages where so required
Establishes, monitors, and updates a project risk register, and ensures that appropriate systems are put in place to manage project documentation and records
Oversees project design and development of output specifications and technical requirements
Plans, organizes, executes, and evaluates project delivery and ensures project scope, schedule, budget and performance objectives, are in compliance with established standards, guidelines, policies and procedures
Ensures that project progress, cost, schedule, scope and quality assurance are continuously monitored, and takes corrective action as required
Provides senior leadership oversight and direction to engineering staff and project teams, including defining team member roles, responsibilities, expectations and performance management
Provides senior leadership oversight and direction for the planning and development of the Metrolinx Engineering and Asset management division’s technical expertise and capacity to manage design deliverables and maintenance activities for electric traction supply and distribution within various contract models for heavy and light rail systems

University Degree in Engineering, Rail Transportation, or a related discipline, or a combination of education, training and experience in design. maintenance and operations deemed equivalent
Minimum fifteen (15) years progressive experience in design, maintaining and/or operating supply and distribution systems for electrified railway
Knowledge of the regulatory construction requirements for rail infrastructure projects
Demonstrated issues management skills, to develop strategies to address operational disruptions
Strong leadership skills to lead projects and motivate a team of rail electrification professionals, consultants, and related contractors
Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral/written/presentation) skills to develop the scope of rail electrification infrastructure projects, monitor adherence to contract-specified design processes and industry standards, and manage project documents and records
