Reporting to the Transportation Manager, the Team Lead provides leadership and direction to truck shop employees, planning and organizing daily activities and schedule equipment maintenance according to Provincial legislation. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.
Key Business Functions, Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Manage the daily operation of the truck shop:
Determine the staffing requirements and staff each shift appropriately reacting to any situation affecting shift planning (Vacations, holidays, severe weather, etc.)
Monitors and reports productivity information
Ensures that sanitation tasks are being performed properly
Regularly conduct safety meetings and other meetings to keep staff informed of Sobeys programs
Ensures that systems and tools are being used safely and efficiently
Records fuel consumption daily and orders fuel as required
Order parts as required for mechanics to complete repair work
Process invoices to ensure prompt payment
Maintains inventory of frequently used parts
Operate within the annual budget as set by Corporate
Supervises the daily work of the truck shop employees:
Establishes the work priorities for day and afternoon shift
Ensures that repair orders are being properly completed and filed
Recruits, develops, motivates and coaches shop employees including corrective actions as required.
Manages absenteeism and performance issues.
Demonstrates outstanding leadership with a clear vision and consistent sense of direction
Ensures Health and Safety rules are being followed
Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with TMT Fleet Maintenance software
Results oriented leader, with solid judgement and decision making skills
Demonstrated successful ability working with cross functional teams
Planning and organizing skills
Strong leadership, teamwork and interpersonal skills
Excellent judgement and decision making skills
Valid driver’s licence
Education and Working Experience
Possession of a recognized Alberta trade credential as a Truck and Transport Mechanic or Transport Trailer Mechanic
Minimum High School diploma and 2 years in a truck or trailer repair shop or equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated successful experience leading tractor or trailer repair employees
