Senior Project Manager
Reporting directly to the President, the Senior Project Manager provides overall management, administration and technical direction for projects. Enforce company and project policies, maintain client interface, and ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
Key accountabilities
- Create high level plan for projects’ construction and prepare a construction schedule in collaboration with the Project Team. Prepare updates in accordance with the terms and conditions of the prime contract.
- Establish critical path of the project.
- Work in conjunction with the Construction Manager and Superintendent to attain an optimal schedule for the scope of work at hand.
- Co-operate fully with the Project Team to get the project completed.
- Examine and Analyze contract drawings and specifications and ensure that the work is built in accordance with these documents.
- Conduct project meetings, bi-weekly or monthly as needed and create minutes from these meetings.
- Meet with Owners and Architects in a professional manner and have the ability to communicate effectively both the concerns and best interests of the company.
- Prepare timely and accurate billings on a monthly basis for Owners, and ensure timely payment of subcontractor billings in accordance with contractual arrangements.
- Monitor in conjunction with the Construction Manager/Project Superintendent, the project’s material and labour costs and ensure accurate quality reporting is being conducted.
- Co-ordinate, manage and communicate with all subcontractors and effectively deal with problems such as delivery, labor, schedule and payment disputes.
- Establish and maintain positive relationship with sub-contractors, owners and consultants
- Explore opportunities associated with each projects and suggest creative value engineering opportunities
- Implement changes received from the Client and/or consultant including contacting the subcontractor for pricing, checking subcontractor’s quotations to ensure that they are complete and reasonable; and itemizing changes with confidence that the pricing is in accordance with the changes.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of construction experience with General Contractor.
- experience in managing multi-million dollar $15 -50M
- University degree or College Diploma in Engineering
- Experience in Project Management, Construction Management, or direct field experience in construction of civil works, concrete structures, Water & Wastewater treatment plants, industrial and commercial facilities is an asset.
- In depth knowledge of assessing Risk and opportunities with every project to be tendered
- Strong Negotiation Skills
- Proven ability of Time Management and Organization Skills (pre-planning, multi-tasking, documentation)
- Effective problem solving and decision making qualities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- PMP Designation is an asset
- Gold Seal Certification is preferred
