Build High-End Custom Decks — Not Cookie-Cutter Work
McKenzie Decking is hiring a skilled, experienced deck builder who takes pride in craftsmanship and wants to work on fully custom outdoor projects. We’re not a volume builder — every project is unique, and we expect a high standard of finish.
This role is best suited for a lead carpenter or highly experienced builder who can take ownership of a project and execute it properly from start to finish.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead or assist in building custom decks from the ground up
- Layout, framing, decking, stairs, and railings — done right the first time
- Work with composite, PVC, and pressure treated materials
- Interpret plans and adjust on-site when needed
- Ensure builds meet Ontario code and structural standards
- Maintain a clean, professional job site
- Communicate with team members and occasionally clients
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong deck building experience (this is not an entry-level role)
- Portfolio of past work is required
- Solid understanding of framing, structure, and finishing details
- Experience with composite systems (Trex or similar)
- Ability to work independently and lead when needed
- Pride in clean lines, proper spacing, and overall finish quality
- Reliable, professional, and shows up ready to work
Bonus If You Have:
- Experience leading a crew or running jobs
- Knowledge of aluminum or glass railing systems
- Ability to problem-solve on-site without constant direction
What We Offer:
- Top pay for the right candidate
- Full-time hours throughout the season
- High-end custom projects — no repetitive builder-grade decks
- Opportunity for continued/return seasonal work based on performance
- A team that cares about doing things properly
To Apply:
Send your portfolio of completed projects and a brief description of your experience.
