Job Summary: As a member of the Kaizen team, the CI / SPR Self Piercing Rivets Specialist is responsible to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer satisfaction. They will be an industry expert in regards to SPR application, troubleshooting and testing techniques. Will be a key support figure for any escalated breakdown or quality issues on all plant manufacturing equipment.

Required Education and Experience:
University and/or technical college in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering or Business with the following experience:
Minimum 5-10 years of manufacturing, welding and general maintenance related experience in automotive industry
Strong understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
Strong robot programming skills and mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
Strong knowledge of Resistance Welding Medar/Bosch, Projection and Mig Welding GMAW & FCAW
Strong knowledge of Drawn Arc stud welding Emhart
Experience with automated dispensing equipment SCA Atlas Copco
Working knowledge / understanding of SPR Self Piercing Rivet process would be an asset
Excellent communication skills oral and written
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills to resolve new and unique problems.
Highly proficient with the full Microsoft Office suite Excel, Word, Access PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio.
Occasional travel required throughout North America

Essential Functions:
Plan, coordinate, lead and participate with various multi-disciplined teams addressing objectives associated with the manufacturing and assembly process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap and rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitments to optimize a profitable operation
Lead Continuous improvement projects following lean manufacturing tools
Develop, monitor, train and optimize all aspects of the SPR Self Piercing Rivet processes
Trouble shoot process/equipment related issues and fine tune process to eliminate process-induced defects
Support in the development of Preventative Maintenance Program for all manufacturing process equipment
Assist in the development of in house manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tooling
Assist in development and provide guidance to error proof all aspects of the manufacturing and operational process
Conduct studies and implement project plans to improve production efficiencies, cost reductions and reduce manufacturing costs
Maintain a current knowledge of the overall aspects of the Manufacturing process, new technology, and processes, attending training courses, trade shows and industry conferences as required
Abide by all Company polices including, but not limited to the following: Health and Safety, Quality and Environmental Systems, Human Resources policies, and the Martinrea Employee Handbook

Other Functions

This position works with minimal supervision, this position also concerns itself with confidential company documents.
Attends meetings as needed to support organization activity.
Performs other duties, as assigned, to achieve corporate and departmental objectives.

Work Environment:
Office Environment and Plant Floor 30% Office, 70% Plant Floor

Effectively communicate with employees, peers, and management
While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near powered motor vehicles, power tools, and automated assembly fixtures.
Overtime as required

Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
