Position: Intermediate Data Analyst (BigQuery / Google Cloud) Insurance
Location: Hybrid, 2x per week in office (Toronto, Downtown)
Structure: Contract 12 months to start
Pay: $45.00 - $50.00 p/h inc.

Our client is seeking an experienced
Data Analyst to join a high-performing data team supporting enterprise reporting and analytics initiatives. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys translating business requirements into data solutions, working with large-scale datasets, and collaborating with both business and technology stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing, profiling, mapping, and validating data from multiple sources while supporting the delivery of high-quality data solutions that enable business reporting, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Analyze, profile, and map data from multiple enterprise data sources to support current and future business requirements.

Facilitate and actively participate in requirements gathering and elaboration sessions with business and technical stakeholders.

Translate business requirements into detailed functional and technical data specifications.

Develop and execute complex SQL queries to analyze and extract data from Google Cloud BigQuery.

Participate in Agile delivery activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.

Create, maintain, and update business and technical data mapping documentation in accordance with Enterprise Data Office standards.

Support project planning activities including effort estimation, impact analysis, risk identification, and mitigation planning.

Partner with Quality Engineering teams to support test planning, test case development, defect analysis, and issue resolution.

Collaborate with third-party vendors and business stakeholders to ensure data quality, accuracy, and timely delivery of reporting requirements.

Support regulatory and business reporting initiatives, ensuring data integrity and compliance with organizational standards.

Monitor incidents, investigate data-related issues, and ensure timely resolution within established service levels.

Continuously identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.

Stay current with emerging Big Data technologies and share knowledge across the team.

Minimum 3 years of experience as a Data Analyst, Data Business Systems Analyst, or similar data-focused role.

Strong experience writing complex SQL queries and performing data analysis.

Hands-on experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), specifically BigQuery.

Experience analyzing, profiling, mapping, and validating large and complex datasets.

Strong understanding of data mapping, data lineage, and data transformation concepts.

Experience documenting business and technical requirements.

Proficiency with Jira and Confluence.

Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.

Strong communication and facilitation skills with the ability to work effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality work.

Experience within the Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance industry.

Experience within the Financial Services sector.

Exposure to Enterprise Data Management or Enterprise Data Office frameworks.

Experience supporting regulatory or operational reporting initiatives.

Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
