WORK ILLUSTRATION:
Coordinates and executes planned and reactive activities and projects to support corporate and customer communications, media relations, issues management, crisis communications and general administration.
The incumbent is expected to behave ethically and follow the established code of business conduct, policies and internal control procedures, laws and regulations governing Toronto Hydro.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the coordination and execution of strategic communications plans that contribute to the delivery of corporate and customer communications and events and sponsorships.
- Assists with media monitoring and reporting, as well as issues management. Proactively initiates process improvement initiatives.
- Conducts research on best practices to enhance and continually improve program elements and activities.
- Keeps current with communication trends and makes recommendations to augment the communications program.
- Provides support in developing and managing content on the website to confirm all communication channels adhere to brand guidelines and organizational vision.
- Supports social media monitoring and community management efforts to grow and nurture the organization’s online community through engaging content and responsive communication.
- With input from senior leadership, coordinates attendance, scheduling and preparation for Toronto Hydro’s participation in events.
- May assist in event execution along with other team members.
- Coordinates event and sponsorship opportunities to plan and execute events that align with organizational and departmental objectives.
- Prepares industry award submissions.
- Administers department budget, including managing vendors and processing invoices.
- Performs departmental administration activities as required to manage each program.
- Monitors vendor contracts and supports any activities related to the procurement process as required (i.e Request for Proposals).
- Prepares reports, updates records and documents pertaining to programs, projects and social media.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field from an accredited University.
- Two (2) or more years of relevant experience in corporate communications, public relations or marketing.
- Experience with communications planning and execution.
- Experience managing corporate social media channels.
- Working knowledge of website content management systems, particularly Liferay.
- Working knowledge of social media management software.
- Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills.
- Proactive and creative thinker.
- Efficient collaborator and strong in building effective relationships with a focus on customer needs.
- Superior communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written).
- Committed to quality despite regularly and fast changing situations and circumstances.
Toronto Hydro has introduced a Hybrid Work Arrangement. This position allows for remote work up to three days per week, based on business needs. Employees will be required to come onsite on those days when they are involved in activities that they or their leader feel are better conducted in person.
