Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial records and assist with CRA compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong bookkeeping experience, knowledge of HST/GST filings, and experience working directly with the CRA and external accountants.
Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or irregularities
- Assist with payroll processing and related reporting functions
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audit purposes
- Support budgeting processes by preparing reports and analyzing variances
- Prepare financial statements and reports as needed for management review
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate financial data entry and reporting
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping systems
- Record and reconcile bank transactions
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Track, calculate, and prepare HST/GST filings
- Assist with CRA correspondence and compliance matters
- Prepare monthly financial reports and reconciliations
- Maintain organized records of receipts, invoices, and expenses
- Assist with payroll processing and government remittances
- Work closely with management and external accountants during year-end reporting
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping experience in Canada
- Strong understanding of CRA requirements and HST/GST filings
- Experience with QuickBooks Online (preferred)
- Knowledge of payroll, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality
- Strong communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience dealing directly with CRA audits, inquiries, and remittances
- Experience with small business bookkeeping and inventory tracking
- Knowledge of corporate bookkeeping and year-end preparation
- Familiarity with Dext, Hubdoc, Sage, or similar accounting software
What We’re Looking For
We need someone who can keep our books organized, ensure HST is properly tracked and remitted, maintain accurate records, and help keep our business compliant with CRA requirements. Experience handling CRA correspondence and resolving tax-related issues is a strong asset.
