Position Overview -
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Pharmacovigilance Manager to join our team and play a key leadership role in ensuring our patient support programs are aligned with pharmacovigilance requirements within our organization. As the Pharmacovigilance Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing pharmacovigilance activities, compliance, and risk management strategies, while maintaining regulatory standards and contributing to the continuous improvement of our quality management system.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategy:
- Develop and execute the pharmacovigilance strategy in alignment with organizational goals and client requirements.
- Provide leadership and direction to the pharmacovigilance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
- Develop and implement risk minimization strategies for products with identified safety concerns.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all relevant Canadian and international pharmacovigilance regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving regulations and adapt organizational practices accordingly.
PV Safety Monitoring:
- Maintain a robust pharmacovigilance database system.
- Oversee the monitoring of adverse events, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to health authorities and stakeholders.
- Implement processes for signal detection, evaluation, and risk management planning.
2. Training and Development:
- Provide training and mentorship to pharmacovigilance staff, ensuring their professional growth and competence.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Develop and maintain quality assurance procedures and documentation related to PV.
- Maintain a robust and efficient document management system using eQMS (MasterControl) or LMS (Docebo)
- Perform investigations and resolution of quality issues and non-conformances related to PV, providing suitable recommendations and facilitate ongoing quality improvement using risk-based methodology while maintaining compliance.
- Track and participate in the development of quality enhancement projects (CAPAs) related to PV
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to ensure the quality and completeness of pharmacovigilance activities.
- Host client audits as required, ensuring full preparedness and compliance with all pharmacovigilance regulations and client expectations
4. Communication and Collaboration:
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams, including regulatory affairs, clinical development, and medical affairs.
- Represent the organization in interactions with regulatory agencies and external partners.
- Work closely with pharmaceutical clients, healthcare providers, and internal teams to monitor, assess, and report adverse events
Job Specifications & Qualifications:
Advanced degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field.- 5+ years of experience in quality assurance in biotech, medical device, pharmaceutical or other relevant industry, with 2+ years in a management role.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian pharmacovigilance regulations and global pharmacovigilance best practices.
- Strong understanding of drug safety databases, signal detection, and risk management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex pharmacovigilance concepts.
- Proven track record of successful interactions with health authorities and regulatory agencies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
