Marriott Ottawa is preparing to begin a transformative, top-to-bottom renovation of all guestrooms, event space, restaurants and public areas, commencing in 2023, positioning the hotel to continue its storied legacy of hospitality excellence.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:
- Consistently produce quality products as per standards from the Executive Chef.
- Learn proper technical skills and procedures as listed on the technical skills and training grid.
- Contribute ideas frequently, if not daily, on ways to improve your area. This is the primary ingredient to the quality improvement process in your area.
- Utilize at all times Marriott recipes, use records and production charts
- Maintain sanitation standards to optimum conditions.
- Set-up station properly and on time for each service period.
- Make sure all food is prepared by recipes designated by supervisor.
- Make sure food quality and quantity is correct.
- Make sure food is sent to correct area on time.
- Notify supervisor of any problems or complaints when they arise.
- Be able to work in another area when needed and take part in cross-training when directed.
- Be able to assist in same day prep and advance prep for another station as instructed by your
- supervisor.
- Follow “clean as you go” policy and keep work area clean at all times.
- All food items for storage must be covered with cling film, dated, labeled and initialed by person who made it or used it first.
- After service, turn off and clean oven tops and work areas and reach-in boxes.
- Any other request made by management including stooping, bending and lifting weights up to and including 30 pounds will normally be required.
- Make sure production charts are closely followed and adhered to.
- Fill out the appropriate cleaning charts on a daily basis.
- Be aware of accident prevention and help enforce safe working conditions. Report all accidents.
- Follow all kitchen regulations as outlined and directed.
- Attend weekly departmental meetings.
- Coach and support team members.
- Foster positive relationships with Cooks and Servers.
- Ensure a safe work environment.
- Complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Maintain health standards and personal hygiene.
- Conform to all hotel policies as outlined in your Associate handbook and orientation checklist.
- Perform any reasonable tasks assigned by supervisor.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- 2 years hospitality program certificate at community college or post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in culinary training.
- Previous experience in the classical areas of the Kitchen (Vegetable/Grill/Banquets/Garde-manger)
- Red Seal certification preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Strong sense of teamwork.
- Passionate about cooking.
- Strong communicator possessing strong organizational skills.
- Work calmly under high pressure situations
