Scope of the Job
We are looking for an HR Generalist to support team members from our head office and showroom population. In this role, you will provide day-to-day operational HR support to employees and people leaders across the full employee lifecycle. You are a well-rounded HR professional who is passionate about the employee experience and knows how to balance the needs of the business and the needs of the people. As we build our business and grow the number of employees, you will support the delivery of HR programs, policies and processes related to talent management, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness, as well as the day-to-day HR operations. We are looking for someone who likes to roll up their sleeves and dive in, a true generalist who is innovative, passionate, and eager to grow.
Responsibilities and Tasks
- Serve as a first point of contact for employees and people leaders on HR policies, programs, and job-related questions, escalating complex matters as appropriate.
- Build strong and trusted relationships with employees and leaders to provide practical, day-to-day HR guidance and support.
- Support employee relations matters, including intake, documentation, and resolution of workplace concerns and performance issues, with confidentiality and discretion.
- Advocate for employees and support a consistent, positive workplace culture through programs and initiatives.
- Administer and support core HR processes such as onboarding, offboarding, employment changes, leaves of absence, and employment documentation.
- Support the execution of HR cycles, including annual performance reviews, compensation reviews, and policy-related implementations.
- Prepare and maintain HR data and reports; help identify trends related to performance, retention, and employee experience and recommend improvements.
- Assist with talent management, learning and development, and employee engagement and retention initiatives.
- Help identify training and development needs for teams and individuals and support the coordination and delivery of training initiatives.
- Assist with Health and Safety Compliance for all three provinces (QC, ON, BC).
- Assist with the collection and analysis of salary survey and benchmarking data to help ensure pay practices remain equitable and competitive.
- Support job evaluation reviews and the maintenance of job descriptions and job architecture documentation.
- Support recruitment activities for our showroom and head office teams, including posting, screening, interview coordination, and offer preparation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation across provinces (including the Ontario ESA and equivalent employment standards in Quebec and British Columbia); maintain accurate and complete employee records.
- Work as an integrated member of the Human Resources team.
- Support all other areas of Human Resources, when required, and any other duties as assigned.
What Are We Looking For
- Degree or diploma in Human Resources or a relevant program; CHRP designation (or working towards it) would be an asset.3–5 years of progressive human resources generalist experience.
- Hands-on experience across core areas of Human Resource Management, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR administration; exposure to compensation and job evaluations is an asset.
- Experience supporting hourly or retail employee client groups and/or automotive dealership experience is preferred.
- Passion for creating a positive employee culture and experience.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
- Empathetic team member with the ability to develop credible and trusted relationships.
- Exercises a high degree of professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills; able to identify issues, propose solutions, and support the implementation of appropriate changes.
- Self-motivated, reliable and follows through on commitments and meets hard deadlines.

- Highly flexible and adaptable within a rapid and changing work environment.
- Bilingual English/French is an asset.
- Excellent computer skills, proficient with Excel and Word; HRIS experience (e.g., Dayforce) is an asset.
- Working knowledge of Canadian employment laws; multi-provincial experience (Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia) is preferred.
