Labour Relations Assistant

The Human Resources Department is currently seeking a full-time, temporary (6 months) Labour Relations Assistant. Reporting to the Manager, Labour Relations, the Labour Relations Assistant will be accountable for providing administrative, research and analytical support for the labour relations function at CAMH. In this role you will manage the daily agenda of the Manager Labour Relations; track and manage various deadlines; administer and maintain the grievance information database for all bargaining units, including updating and running monthly reports; interpret information to enter data; manage the scheduling of grievance meetings, and arbitration hearings and provide administrative support for these processes; ensure compliance of the reporting obligations to our unions as set out in the collective agreements; research Provincial legislation and case law as required; produce and proofread materials/documents; help prepare and compile applications, responses and documentation for proceedings before various administrative tribunals; provide administrative support to the collective bargaining process; provide analysis on reports prepared and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in a related field and a post graduate diploma in Human resources. You must possess one (1) year of experience in Human Resources or related experience is required. The successful candidate will be a core member of a small team and must have superior interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as be comfortable working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives. You have excellent organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities and be able to deliver projects within tight timelines. You will also have excellent analytical and research skills. You will also have the ability to develop relationships internally and externally to the organization; proven ability to respond to questions and requests; and to manage conflict, where required. As part of a busy team, strong attention to detail and discretion and sensitivity to work involving confidential information is a must. A proactive attitude and a willingness to be committed to and strive for continuous improvement are essential. Advanced computer skills with knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint), Internet Search engines, and the ability to learn new programs is required. You have demonstrated superior communication skills, i.e., ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing in a prior work setting. The successful candidate must have creative problem-solving and be resolution focused . Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is an asset.
