Duties
The Accountant drives the financial management activities by performing accounting/financial management functions including analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and preparing financial reports. The Accountant will manage the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, preparing financial statements, and reporting to management and externally. The incumbent will perform tasks to oversee the financial function and will be responsible for month-end close, financial KPI management, coordination with our AR, AP, and payroll team members, cash management, business development activities, and other duties as required. The Accountant will be a strong communicator and will be expected to engage regularly with other staff throughout Transdev Canada.
Essential Qualifications:
- A professional accounting designation (CPA, ACA, CGA, CMA, others may be considered),
- Post-secondary education
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role
- Experience interpreting and applying accounting and financial processes, statues, regulations, and policies. Includes applying General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Experience preparing budgets, financial reports, and analysis.
- Experience assessing and evaluating accounting policies and practices, financial budgeting, and/or reporting practices/ formats.
- Ability to understand and apply complex accounting policies and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert-level proficiency using Excel, and other MS Office applications
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desired:
Experience with financial modelling, and finance to support strategic management.
Experience working in the transportation Industry.
To be considered for this opportunity, you will need or be near completion of a CPA (or equivalent) designation. Additionally, a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or financial management is required, which should include expertise in conducting full cycle accounting and preparing financial statements/reports.
