About the role:
As a Sales Broker, this role involves quoting clients and binding policies in a call-centre environment, focusing solely on new business with leads provided. Responsibilities include engaging with clients, assessing risk, binding policies over recorded calls, and maintaining professional relationships with clients, staff, and partners while following guidelines and best practices.
The ideal candidate will excel at managing multiple priorities, possess strong communication, analytical, time management, and organizational skills, and have keen attention to detail with efficient keyboarding. They will provide customer service and have technical knowledge of personal lines products.
What you’ll be doing:
New Business - Personal Lines
- Provide fast and accurate new business quotes to existing and potential clients in a high-volume call center environment by performing frontline underwriting on all inbound and outbound leads.
- Collect all necessary policy details to assess risk accurately and review the client’s coverage requirements.
- Up-sell/cross-sell coverage when presented with the opportunity.
- Bind coverage via recorded telephone calls in accordance with established verbal binding protocols.
Underwriting & Compliance
- Request and analyze driver history and claims reports to ensure risks are accurately rated and placed in the appropriate market per company and insurer appetite.
- Disclose all relevant information to carriers and submit fully completed applications, including all supporting documentation, signed waivers, and payment information.
- Advise the company of any new risk exposures, material changes, claims, or potential E&O losses.
- Maintain strict adherence to all internal guidelines, audit requirements, and regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
Relationship Management
- Maintain professional relationships and rapport with all past, present, and potential clients, as well as staff, brokers, and carrier partners.
- Follow management directions to implement best practices and collaborate effectively with internal departments.
- Proactively identify and communicate concerns, potential process improvements, and development opportunities to management.
Operational Workflow & Performance
- Meet specific volume commitments and production timelines while adhering to company workflows and scheduling.
- Manage all activities, emails, and follow-ups in a timely and organized manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
What we need you to bring:
- College or University Degree or comparable experience
- RIBO (Level I) License required.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a general insurance brokerage (preferred)
- Technical knowledge of a variety of personal lines products
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Experience working with company portals and Broker Management System (EPIC) is an asset
- CIP or CAIB Certification or working towards its completion is considered an asset
