We are currently looking for an associate Underwriter to join our Banking and Mortgage Operations department in Montreal, Quebec. The Banking and Mortgage Operations department is responsible for the overall development, management, and promotion of IG Wealth Management’s broad array of banking and mortgage products. This includes providing support to the Consultant and Specialist Network for product-related topics and assisting with the integration of products into client financial plans.
The Associate Mortgage Underwriter supports the Mortgage Underwriting team and is the primary contact for all amendments to the mortgage loan approvals, ensuring prompt action for these requests. The Associate Underwriter is also responsible for the quality and integrity of records and information on all auto-approved submissions and for the management of the Electronic File System.
Responsibilities include:
Assess and approve change notifications for mortgage loan approvals, including following up for clarification or additional information.
Determine and refer changes, when required, to an underwriter for review and approval.
Complete appropriate documents and system entry to facilitate the accurate loan approval amendments.
Communicate with all required parties affected by the changes to the mortgage loan approvals.
Audit and verify the accuracy of the application information and report any significant discrepancies to the interested parties.
Review and approve documents presented to satisfy underwriting conditions and communicate with the Mortgage Planning Specialist as to appropriateness.
Complete file review and recommend for both Bridge financing and change to covenant on existing mortgages.
Electronic file management within Filogix by Finastra.
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in the financial service industry, preferably working in the residential mortgages lending field.
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in a relevant business discipline.
Proficiency in various computer software programs, including MS Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel; Adobe Acrobat.
Proven ability to work within tight deadlines and with fluctuating work volumes.
Ability to communicate with diverse groups and individuals both verbally and in writing.
Proven ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate in both English and French is required.
