BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth. BCCH also provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and operates a wide number of specialized health programs provided through a number of health services provider groups. An outstanding opportunity is available to join the Division of Developmental Pediatrics at Sunny Hill Health Centre at BC Children’s Hospital and the University of British Columbia. The new Sunny Hill Health Centre at BC Children's Hospital is an innovative, family-centred facility that will continue to provide specialized developmental assessments and rehabilitation care to children, youth and their families from across the province of British Columbia.
The Child Development and Rehabilitation Program at Sunny Hill is a provincial resource providing consultation and community support for children with disabilities. You will be expected to work with the inter-disciplinary team and take a leadership role in developing provincially focused evidence-based services to children who have developmental and rehabilitation needs. This currently includes children and adolescents with a variety of disabilities. We are looking for individuals who have broad training and experience in the care of individuals with neurodevelopmental differences and also have an interest in the care of children and adolescents with neuromotor disabilities and brain injury. Services are provided in outpatient and inpatient settings. The ideal candidate will work across a number of programs to see a wide range of children and youth.
The Division has more than 14 physician members and additional consultants. The Division has a Royal College approved training program in Developmental Pediatrics.
The successful candidate will have a fellowship in Pediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and subspecialty training and certification in Developmental Pediatrics (FRCPC) or equivalent training within another country. Applicants with Neurology or Physiatry training and certification will be considered if they have relevant experience related to children and adolescents. The successful candidate must be eligible to obtain a specialist’s license to practice in British Columbia. The successful candidate will be appointed (rank commensurate with experience) within the Department of Pediatrics and will participate in clinical care, teaching, and quality improvement. The anticipated start date is negotiable. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
