Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and outgoing Cashier/Sales associate to join our retail team on a part time, permanent basis. This role involves providing exceptional customer service, managing sales transactions, assisting customers with product selections, and some daily/weekly paperwork. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be organized, and have a passion for pets, pet products & exceptional customer interactions.
Duties
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their purchases including lifting bags of food or boxes of raw food up to 25lbs. during your work shift
- Interact with pets (dogs & cats) that are brought in with their owner-customers by feeding treats and taking pictures of the animals to post to our Instagram
- Operate POS systems efficiently for cash handling and transaction processing
- Maintain organized merchandising displays and continually keep a clean store
- Handle customer inquiries via phone or in person with professionalism
- Some weekly paperwork, ad-hoc projects.
- Ensure excellent customer service by addressing questions and resolving issues promptly
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sales floor, register area, and backroom
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
- Previous experience in retail sales, cashiering, or customer service preferred
- Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic math skills
- Organizational skills, attention to detail esp. in merchandising and cleanliness
- Time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently during shifts
- Ability to receive and put away our delivered inventory both in store and in our freezer
- Professional phone etiquette and excellent customer service orientation
- Ability to work well in a team environment and adapt to fast-paced settings
This role is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy engaging with customers & dogs, learning product information, and contributing to a vibrant retail atmosphere.
Position is 25 hours per week but the ideal candidate will have flexibility in the days and hours they can work to assist in covering busy sale periods as well as cover staff vacation times.
