The Budget Development and Reporting Division in Treasury Board and Finance has an excellent opportunity for experienced individuals to join our team!
As an Analyst, you will gain a thorough understanding of the program budget and policy issues facing specific ministries as you review their proposed spending and business plans and monitor how those plans are implemented, including reviews of quarterly budget updates and year-end results.Your strong interpersonal and written communication skills will be essential when analyzing the proposals and preparing clear, concise briefings.
The successful candidate requires a good understanding of public policy objectives and the government's fiscal framework and fiscal plan. A good understanding of basic accounting concepts and government's fiscal and financial legislation (e.g. Financial Administration Act, Fiscal Planning and Transparency Act, Fiscal Measures and Taxation Act, Ensuring Fiscal Sustainability Act, Appropriation acts) is important. An ability to learn quickly and adapt to new approaches will help ensure success.
A University degree in Business, Economics, Public Administration or a related field supplemented by a minimum of 4 years related experience is required. This includes budgeting, forecasting and reporting, as well as analysis of new programs or changes to existing programs.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience dealing with the provincial budget and business planning process or in public administration.
An accounting designation would be an asset.

$3,062.51 to $4,121.25 bi-weekly ($79,931 to $107,564 annually)
There are two, permanent, full-time positions available in Edmonton.
These positions work Monday to Friday, 8:15AM to 4:30PM (36.25 hours/week).
This competition may be used to full current and future part-time and full-time, permanent and temporary vacancies at the same or lower level within the Government of Alberta. Candidates with lower qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
