Job Overview
We are seeking dynamic and detail-oriented Access Control Security Specialists / Cable Technicians to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting access control systems, CCTV surveillance, commercial intercom and alarm systems, as well as low voltage cabling across various commercial and industrial client facilities throughout Ontario. Your work will include wiring, programming, and configuring new devices and system components, as well as quickly diagnosing and resolving issues in the field.
The role also includes a full range of Cable Technician duties including installing, repairing and maintaining cable systems and conduits, as well as trouble-shooting on various telecommunication equipment and data networks.

Access Control Security Specialist Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup: Mount panels, card readers, electric locks, request-to-exit devices, and run structured low-voltage cabling.
- Programming & Configuration: Configure software databases, set user access levels, and integrate systems with IP networks onsite and remotely.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Diagnose hardware/software failures, test circuit continuity, and replace malfunctioning components. Ensure that access control, CCTV, cameras and surveillance equipment, intercom and automatic door systems all function effectively.
- Maintenance & Upgrades: Perform routine system checks, firmware updates, and document configurations or wiring changes.
- · Client Support: Train end-users on system operation and coordinate with IT or facility managers.
- · Preventative Maintenance and Emergency Calls: Conduct preventative maintenance and address any client issues promptly to ensure that systems are operational at all times.
Cable Technician Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, and maintain cable systems and conduits.
- Running various types of wiring, including Cat 5E, Cat 6, Cat6A, Cat7, and Fiber.
- Pulling cable and setting ground cables, installing equipment, and troubleshooting any problems with the cable system.
- Perform troubleshooting on various telecommunication equipment including telephone lines, data networks, etc.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams related to security systems and cabling layouts
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation procedures
- Utilize hand tools and low voltage equipment to complete installations efficiently.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide exceptional customer service throughout the installation or repair process.
Experience
● Must have and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
● Post-secondary Diploma in electronics, IT or a related technical trade preferred.
● Familiarity with computer networking concepts and telecommunication systems is preferred.
● 3 to 5+ years’ hands-on Experience in:
○ Commercial security integration (familiarity with enterprise platforms such as: Honeywell, DSX, Verkada, Harmann)
○ Alarm systems: (e.g. DSC, Honeywell, Napco, DMP Paradox)
○ CCTV platforms and IP Cameras (e.g. Speco, Axis, Uniview, Avigilon)
○ Intercom systems: (eg. Mircom, DoorKing).
● 2 to 5+ years’ Experience working with low voltage wiring, structured cabling and electrical components
● Able to climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs
● Must be able to read and follow architectural blueprints or wiring schematics.
● High level of mechanical aptitude and proficiency in using a wide variety of power and hand tools
● Highly organized with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
● Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) for effective interaction with clients and team members.
● Able to read and understand installation manuals
● Highly organized.

Pay: $30.00-$45.00 per hour
